News got out fast about the spreading nanobot carpet, and, as usual, my dad and his commando team were the first on the scene.

They sped off in their Humvee to the outskirts of town where the velvet was slowly encroaching.

"Light her up, boys!" Dad ordered, and his men let loose a barrage of missiles, grenades and flame-throwers on the vast swath of pink. And for a moment, it worked!

But he was only able to destroy one corner of the nano-carpet; the rest of it just kept expanding. In fact, it expanded around the burned portion and joined together behind Dad and his team without them realizing it. And when they tried to retreat, they couldn't. They were surrounded!

So, of course, it was up to C.H.I.P. to save the day. Or, in this case, a billion little competitive eater C.H.I.P.-obots that I had in my backpack!

Long distance runner C.H.I.P. carried me to the edge of town, and we found the expanding pink carpet just about to overtake a row of houses. We had to act fast!
