I was full of internal excitement. I wanted to scream it from the mountains, but I couldn't. Besides people thinking I was crazy, I couldn't because only the Coven could know. I couldn't even tell Daniel. That was the hardest part, especially since it's about him.
We had finished translating the spell.
It had taken weeks of hard work, but we finally finished. Things were progressing, which was good. Except, I couldn't even tell Daniel that. Call me paranoid, but it seemed like as soon as I said it out loud something bad would happen. My friends already knew, so it wasn't the same when we talked about it.
At least, that's what I was going with.
Now, we just needed to get the rest of the ingredients. We were all going to discuss it at lunch. Hopefully, we had all forty-one things. Then, we could start to seriously talk about breaking the Curse. Sighing, I felt the pressure release from my chest. Health class was moving by sluggishly. The teacher had been talking for over forty minutes straight. I wasn't retaining anything, which was unfortunate because it was Final's week.
Now, that the spell was translated, I could study. I was glad I had kept up with my school work, so I wasn't too worried about my grades. Next year, I was going to try to prioritize school more. If everything worked out the way it was supposed to, next Fall I would be starting my Junior year, dating Daniel -- a human guy. It sounded too good to be true.
"Ugh, did you see this?" Addie groaned at her phone. I didn't know what she was referring to, so I shook my head. She shoved her phone towards me. I squinted at the article.
It was about Conner.
"Is that a bad thing?" I scrolled down the article. It was brief and said Conner was the newest cast member to join the Friends reboot movie. I didn't understand why she was upset.
"Yes! I mean no, but I don't know. Nevermind." She took her phone back and tossed it in her bag. We started walking towards our lockers. I was so glad it was lunchtime. "I should be happy for him," I nodded. "But I'm not. I hope the movie flops." She was still bitter about their breakup, despite her being the one that broke up with him.
"But it's the Friends reboot!" I wanted to see the movie. Addie had forbad it, but she wouldn't know if I saw it.
"Eh, I think it's overrated," I knew for a fact she was lying. I let it slide considering her ex-boyfriend was going to be starring int he movie. "Let's talk about something else," I was thankful for a change in topic. All we ever talked about was California and her acting roles. I was trying to be supportive. "It's a week until I fly out to Cali!" She squealed.
I resisted the urge to roll my eyes.
"I have so much packing to do! Oh, and I wanted to go shopping before I left. Are you doing anything this weekend?" I was glad I had plans. I didn't mind going shopping with Addie, but it was depressing going with her to get stuff for California. It felt like she was replacing all of Salem with the sunshine state. "You should come with me!"
"I would, but I have plans with Daniel. He's been feeling a little neglected," I was half-joking. Daniel did feel like that. For some reason, it made me feel less guilty if I joked.
"I mean to Cali!" It wasn't the first time she had tried to get me to go with her. This time, I was only partially tempted. It would be nice to go out and get some sun, but I knew what would happen. Addie would be distracted and ditch me. I was old news from Salem, what would her new friends and fans think? I didn't want to get cut like Conner.
"Oh, well you know I have to go to New York," I pretended to be bummed.
"I thought that was only for a few weeks?" Two weeks to be exact. I didn't want to go to New York -- it was going to be extremely awkward. Chad was living with his fiance and her two small daughters. I had begged and pleaded with my mom to buy Dara and a hotel room, but Chad was insistent on us staying with him for at least one week. My mom had assured me she would have a hotel room on standby.
