So I've had this idea for a chapter in my mind for a while, so I'm using it now. Hope you enjoy!
Percy's POV
I'm on my way to pick up Annabeth when I get a text.
I really want to see who sent it and what they sent, but I force myself to stay focused on the road.
The black eye from this morning was expertly covered up by yours truly, and the pain in my chest has lowered significantly.
I don't regret telling my friends, I have messed up the entire year due to my stubbornness at keeping it a secret. They deserve to know why I've messed up the year. They at least deserve the knowledge of why I am so secretive sometimes.
They at least deserve that.
About 10 minutes later, I am pulling into Annabeth's driveway.
I hop out of my car and walk up to the door, knocking three times.
As the door opens, Annabeth appears in a grey dress that hugs her torso, but poofs out at the waist.
"Hey, Perce! Come on it, I just have to grab a few things and then we can be on our way," she says, gesturing for me to come inside.
Helen runs out of the kitchen and gives me a tight hug. She then pulls away and pinches my cheek, causing me to smile.
"Look at you!" She exclaims. "Don't you look handsome!" I muttered a thanks and smiled.
All of the sudden, two boys, who must be twins, ran around the corner. "Bobby! Matthew! No running in the house!" Fredrick shouted.
Oh, so those must be Annabeth's brothers.
When they noticed that someone was new, they ran over to their mom and partly hid behind her legs.
"Bobby, Matthew, this is Percy. He's taking Annabeth to the dance," she says softly, nudging the boys out from behind her.
"You aren't dating Annabeth, are you?" One of the boys asked.
"No, we're just friends," I say, bending down so I'm more on their level.
"Wanna hear a secret?" The other boy asked.
I nodded and he stepped out from behind his mom and made his way over to me. "Annabeth has pictures of you on her wall," he whispers.
I blush a deep shade of red and laugh. I'm sure that just came out wrong. We have taken a lot of group photos. Those could be the pictures he's referring to.
"What are you telling Percy, Bobby?" Annabeth says.
I look behind me and my breath hitches. Her hair is perfectly curled, and her eyeshadow makes her grey eyes pop.
The dress she's wearing fits her perfectly, making every aspect of her look amazing, not that she wasn't already.
"Oh nothing," the boy, which I now suspect is Bobby, says.
"You ready, Perce?" She asks, grabbing my hand. I nod but Helen insists that we take a picture.
"Helen, it's just a party," Annabeth whines. "We don't need to take a picture."
"This is important, you guys will remember this when your married," she says slyly.
Annabeth covers her face with her hands and says, "Oh my gods."
I felt my heartbeat quicken, and my eyes went wide. I rub the back of my neck awkwardly and look at my feet.
Then I hear what must have been a camera shutter and look up in surprise.
