"Well, all that's left is the two strongest teens left, am I correct?" Simon asked, still massaging his temples. Bailey still felt bad about that, but her apologies seemed to be enough as it was. She sidled up to me, and I held her close to me. It's honestly been a while since I felt like doing that.

"Yes, sir," Donovan answered. He nodded over to me with a readied expression. I had a feeling that ours were probably going to be the hardest. Although, like Donovan said before, who knew? There's no telling what could happen.

"Well, let's finish this out already," Giovanni said. "Professor Adams and I will take them, okay?"

Simon nodded. "That's perfectly fine. You know where to take them, right?"

"Yes, sir, we do," Adams said with a calm expression on his face. It was unusual seeing this. "I can take Douglas."

Behind him, Donovan cursed under his breath. I grinned to myself as Simon was explaining something to them.

A little while later, after Bailey gave me a kiss on the cheek for good luck, the two of them took us outside in the warmer weather.

Donovan didn't want to have Professor Adams as his mentor. Of course, he didn't say anything, since it would be rude to. He still had to be appreciative for what they were doing for him.

Still, the nutcracker wouldn't shut up about how amazing he thought his powers were. Just smile along and compliment him back, he thought.

Eventually, they stopped in a remote area in the field. The only things that he saw were machines that looked like they'd shoot something out in the air, similar to what a bow and arrow would do. The main thing that confused him was that it was very far away. Maybe about seventy yards, if not more.

"Why are we so far away?" the boy asked. "Shouldn't we be closer?"

"Oh, no," he answered. "This is where we should be."

Okay, just go along with it, then. Professor Adams told him to wait where he was while he went up to the machine and pressed some God-knows-what buttons.

He then pressed a button, and the machine began to roar to life. Donovan furrowed his eyebrows in mass confusion. "What the hell...?"

"Let's see how far you can knock these down! I want to see some real lightning from you, Douglas!"

"What?! I can't hit them that far away!" he replied, shaking his head in disbelief.

"Well, it seems like you'll let the field and everything else burn down!"

Something suddenly popped out from the cannon and it began to fly in the air. Donovan studied it for a minute, trying to figure out what it was. He gasped, realizing what it was.

"Dynamite??" Donovan exclaimed. "Are you insane?!"

He charged his hands and quickly released a bolt of lightning. It exploded loudly in the air. Afterward, Donovan was then panting with a mix of confusion and fear. This guy was crazy!

"Yeah! There we go!" he yelled as he pressed another button. Two more popped out, but this time, it was at a lot lower angle. Donovan yelped and ran a few steps before he jumped in the air and threw both of his hands towards the dynamite. They hit and explodes about fifteen yards ahead of him. Donovan fell to the ground and wondered whether this was practice or death training.

"Can't you train me with something a little safer than freaking dynamite?!" yelled Donovan.

Adams shrugged. "As I said, it's either hit the lightning or let the field burn."
