Ever since Evan awakened from his deep sleep, he only felt like he wanted to sleep even more than he already did. What made him so tired was that he was forced to obey the scientists' commands over and over again. He never saw much of Lin either for that matter, and it was the same thing for the other kids that he had heard of.
He wanted freedom. Evan wanted to get out and be by himself for a bit to process what has happened in the few days he's been awake. But, he had to stay in a room by himself for most of the day. He was also on a strict schedule. He was to be awake at seven in the morning, breakfast served in his room at 7:30, exercise until nine...you get the point. It drained Evan's mentality and energy.
Yet, Dr. Lin had promised him to tell him everything if he cooperated. That was why he hadn't attempted to get out just yet. After Lin returned to Cochabamba with an explanation of everything, they'd take down the Powerclan once and for all.
But, there was one thing that he was constantly questioning: What did Lin have against Mason's Powerclan? As far as he knew, they were a bunch of teenagers with special abilities just like him. If he was on his own, he'd most likely have no part in this at all.
"Sit still," one of the scientists demanded. "You should know the drill by now."
What were they doing? Taking out more of his blood for the God-knows how many times this week. What were they using it for? He had no idea. Nobody would tell him anything. Evan questioned if the silence was Lin's doing.
Evan didn't know anything. He had no idea what his powers were. He had no idea who his parents were. He didn't know if he had any brothers or sisters. He didn't know where he was from.
Evan was confused. He had no idea who he even was.
Once they finished drawing more blood, Evan was released from the lab room. He walked down the hallway back towards his room, but he heard footsteps coming down from the corner. Slowing his pace down, he was met with a taller girl that was close to his age.
She gave him a strange look. "Um, may I ask of your name?"
He hesitated. "U-Um, I'm sorry, but..."
The girl frowned even more. "But what?"
The thing was, that was pretty much the only thing he knew about himself. Evan didn't want to tell her and she asks more questions that he didn't know the answer to.
"It's Evan," he answered, kind of hesitantly. "What's yours?"
She gave him another weird look, and Evan frowned. The girl backed away as if she was scared of him. "U-Um, I'm s-sorry. My name is Michelle Richardson. I think we may have met before if I think who I think you are."
Here it goes. He braced himself for more questions. Something hit him, though. The name sounded familiar, but his brain didn't allow him to remember anything.
"Oh, we did?" he asked with nervous laughter. "When did we meet?"
"It was a long time ago, so I doubt you'd remember," she answered. This relieved Evan just a bit. "We were little kids back then. It was me, you, and another girl named Cassie. Her real name was...Cassandra."
Evan's stomach dropped out of his gut for a split second.
Cassandra.
Why is it so familiar to him? Why was that name so important to him? Why couldn't he remember anything?
"E-Evan?" Michelle suddenly asked. "What's wrong?"
"I don't know," Evan said with panicked force. He was beginning to feel dizzy all of a sudden. "I-I think I need to lay down for a bit. I'm sorry."
