Everything that was happening felt so slow.
Our movements seemed super sluggish, but the timer on the bomb only sped up as it neared the triple zeroes.
1:39.
As Quentin was frantically working on the bomb, Donovan blasted his hands forward at the tuxedo guy, and he slammed hard against the metal wall. Each of us was still until Alonzo screamed out, "Quentin! The bomb!"
"I can't deactivate it!" he replied, his hands glowing as he gripped the explosive. "Something inside of it is preventing me from using my powers on it!"
I cursed. "Damn it. Jamie, melt the wires!"
"What if it blows up?!"
"It won't!" Landon said. "Trust me, it won't! Just melt it!"
Jamie, although shaking with fear, ran over to the bomb and instantly began to melt it. Meanwhile, the tuxedo man struggled to get up.
"How are you alive?" I said, stepping up to him.
"Why's it matter?" he asked. "When this plane explodes, and if you survive, you'll be the pinpoint of the blame."
I gritted my teeth. "I don't care. You went this far to-"
"MASON!"
I stopped and looked at Jamie. She looked over at me, and the bomb would not melt. My heart suddenly dropped. "Oh no..."
0:53.
The tuxedo man suddenly began to chuckle. "We've thought ahead of your powers. It's too bad that all of these innocent passengers will die with you, but at least we will eliminate the source of our distractions."
Donovan clenched his fists. "You selfish bastard..."
Before we had a chance to react, the tuxedo guy took the knife he killed both of the pilots with and sliced his own throat. His body slumped against the wall.
At that point, we knew that there was nothing left we could do.
"You sick and selfish bastard..."
Suddenly, Bailey gripped my hand and squeezed it hard. Without even looking at me, she said, "If we die, I'm proud to die alongside all of you. You guys gave me a reason..."
"A reason for what?" I asked.
"A reason to live. I finally felt like I had a reason..."
0:22.
"No," I said, letting go of her hand. "Nobody is going to die. Come here."
Everyone gathered around me, and I took a deep breath. Spreading my arms out, I released electricity, creating an electric force field.
That was when the bomb exploded, and gravity lost control.
And we started falling down.
Down.
Down.
And down.

"Sir."
"What?"
"Target's been destroyed. What're your orders now?"
Dr. Lin leaned back in his chair. "Locate the coordinates and go after them. If Austin's son has enough common sense, he'll know how to remain alive in that situation."
"If we find them, do you want them dead or alive?"
He thought about that for a minute. "I want them alive. Capture them so Mason can witness what happens when his father is killed."
