The two soldiers that grabbed me flew backward as I released a ton of electricity from my body. Gunshots erupted from the other side of the van right at me, but I created a force field just before they hit, yet it still caused me to fall on my back. Screaming came from inside the restaurant, but I had to trust Jamie and Landon to take care of the citizens so none of them would get hurt.

Donovan quickly rushed to my side as I fought off another one of the soldiers. "Are you okay?"

"Yeah, I'm fine," I huffed. "Let's finish this off before the cops show up."

After I said that, I realized that the solider that declared us as fugitives may have led the people trapped in the cafe to think the wrong thing about us. Although it was true for accidentally destroying government property back in Mexico City, we obviously didn't mean for it to become such a worldwide threat.

A couple of minutes of shooting electricity and dodging bullets passed, and I happened to notice that the police were beginning to come to the scene.

"This is bad, Mase!" Donovan announced, sweating profusely. He looked pretty worn down. "What should we do?!"

He was right; this was bad. It was one thing to fight the NGZ, but we didn't want to have to deal with the police force. I saw it as a representation of the people of the city, the first responders of any crime that comes into view. One of them grabbed a megaphone and spoke in English.

"Stand down, now! We don't want to use lethal force!"

I couldn't stop to think about what could've been the right decision. Do we fight against the police? Do we try to escape? Do we surrender?

This wasn't looking good at all. The NGZ stopped shooting their guns, but kept them aimed right at our faces. I looked at Donovan whose eyes showed fear and indecisiveness. I sighed and slowly raised my hands.

"Alright, just don't shoot," I insisted. "We'll surrender."

The guy that must've been the leader turned to another guy and nodded. "Get on your knees and put your hands behind your head!"

It was me, Donovan, Quentin, and Bailey there at the moment. I could only imagine what must've happened to Landon and Jamie. Were they still in the restaurant? The soldiers made their way towards us, guns still aimed at our faces in case one of us were to fight back. My mind desperately raced to try to find something that would get us out of this situation.

Then it hit me. If Quentin could blast the guns out of their hands, we could find a way to take them down without doing too much damage to them. While I was on the ground I ever so slightly moved closer to him.

"Stay still!"

I froze, waited, and whispered. "Quentin."

Out of the corner of my eyes, I could see that he glanced in my direction.

"The guns," I whispered without looking at him. "Blast them."

The soldiers were about fifteen feet away from us, and they were moving so slowly to watch for any sort of movement whatsoever. I knew that I could create a field to cover him while Donovan and I could take care of the soldiers and cops. My heart was racing as Quentin nodded just enough to where nobody else could see it. I waited for his cue before moving a single muscle.

Then Quentin shot off the ground, and I quickly followed up behind him, instantly creating a force field before any of their bullets could reach him or anyone else. Quentin jumped off the ground and did a 360 spinning kick, and I could feel the ripping shockwave blow past me, but doing no damage at all.
