The constant rain and cold weather of the UK irritated her. The constant arguing with her mother annoyed her. The constant pressure always put on her, stressed her out.
She hated constancy.
She loved change.
It was always that expectation of her becoming a doctor, a lawyer, or just anything with a respected degree that caused the hatred to have a permanent place inside of her heart.
When she wanted to prove her mother wrong and prove to her that she can make a living doing what she desired, it would always backfire.
Emerging from a small town in Leeds, known for its crimes and “reputation”, no journalist office would accept her, which led her to despise her home.
She wanted out. She wanted to go somewhere where they wouldn’t reject her because of where she comes from. She wanted to go to a place where it would be sunny all year, allowing her to walk around and write about the beauty that was around her.
Her mother thought she was insane for making such a big decision while her father thought it would help her fulfill her dream.
She wanted to do something with her life.
But she wanted the place where she would start a new life to be picked randomly, as she stood in front of the world globe she has in her room. Closing her eyes and spinning the globe, she counted to ten and stopped it with her finger.
Opening her eyes, a smile made it’s way onto her face as she saw which place she would run to.
She’s Cecilia Black and California, here she comes.

The boring life he had back in Bradford was what led him to move to London, three years ago. He didn’t mind the rain, but he would be happier on a sunny day, which was rare in London.
Ever since he was a kid, he always had this sense of satisfaction when he would draw. And ever since he was a kid, he knew that he wanted to be an artist.
Living in a small flat with his best friend of three years, Louis, life in London wasn’t always boring but it wasn’t always fun. The constant precipitation, a perk to living in London, prevented him from going out and finding inspiration in that gloomy city.
That and Louis’ constant whining because he misses his girlfriend who had moved to the states a few weeks back.
He didn’t always like change, but he knew that at times, change would help him come one step closer to his dream, since the London life wasn’t exactly helping him in that field.
Coming from Bradford, he would always be that guy that “comes from a rough side of England” and would “cause trouble if he was to participate in the art show”.
He was sick of people judging him because of where he grew up. He wanted to be known for what he does not because of where he comes from. He wanted to just run and end up in a place where no one knew where Bradford was.
He wanted to do something with his life.
“Mate, I got a proposition.”
Zayn scoffed as he was focusing on his drawing, eyebrows scrunched up and tongue poking out of his mouth. “Big word there, Tommo.”
“Cut down the sarcasm, Malik.”
“Get this over with, you know better than to annoy me when I’m drawing.”
“How much money do you have saved up?”
“Not much.”
“Enough to buy a plane ticket and have left over?”
“Probably. Where are you getting at?” Zayn said as he lost his interest in his drawing and concentrated on the brown haired boy.
“Let’s move to California.”
Instead of overthinking it, instead of finding it as too much of a change, Zayn did the exact opposite of what he was used to.
“Let’s get packing.”
As these two ambitious humans decided to chase their dreams, they had no clue what was waiting for them in their new life.
Before they stepped foot into Heathrow Airport, they had no clue who the other was, but all it took to change that single detail was the time spent during their flight to LAX.
But one thing these two had in common, other than coming from a “rough town”, was a dream.
An American Dream.
