I put a new chapter of "Unconditionally" in hopes of my readers to read it, so please check it out? Please. Honestly, this is just so discouraging.
----------------------
She can say one thing and only one thing, having her dad around her made it easier but nonetheless it was hard.
It was hard seeing the person she loved die right in front of her eyes. It was hard seeing him get weaker and weaker every single day. What was much harder? The fact that he had a smile on the whole time.
When she thought she couldn’t love anyone, Bryan came into her life. When she thought there was no hope in the world, he came along. He made her better. He made her happy and now, he was dying.
He was dying and she couldn’t do anything about it.
“I need to tell you something.” He spoke, looking directly into Zayn’s eyes.
“Well, I was shocked when they told me you wanted to see me.” He said, looking at Bryan.
“I don’t know how much longer I have…and all I know is, you’re the only one who can get Cecilia through this. I know how much you care for her, Zayn. I can see it in your eyes.”
“Bryan—“
“Let me finish. I don’t want her to be upset. I don’t want her to get depressed. I want her to be happy and you can provide happiness for her. But first, you need to provide happiness for yourself. What makes you think that Perrie doesn’t want you to move on? Look at me. I’m in my death bed, asking you to love and care for my girlfriend when I die. So why wouldn’t Perrie do the same? She wants you to move on, Zayn. If you stay like this, so hung up on the past, you can never learn how to love again. I want to die knowing that she’s in good arms.”
“How can I love her if I can barely love myself? How can I love her when Perrie is still on my mind?”
Bryan smiles. “The painting.”
“W-What…?”
“The painting you had on display at the art show, Zayn. You think I didn’t catch it? Understand it? You drew a woman…a woman who looked nothing like Perrie…and nothing like Cecilia…but a mix. You drew a quarter of the woman in blue…matching Perrie’s eyes. You drew three quarters of her in brown, matching Cecilia’s. You didn’t know what you were drawing…you just went with it. You went with it because it was what your heart and mind wanted. If we want to think depending on the painting, then I’d say that you’ve moved on from Perrie but you still have her in your heart…something no one would ever ask you to give up. She was your first love, just like I am to Cecilia. I want her to move on and I know that a part of me will always stay with her. That’s how life works. You can move on from Perrie but moving on doesn’t mean that you’re forgetting her.”
“I…I honestly…Bryan, you’re one hell of a guy.” Zayn admitted. “I’m going to take care of her. I’m going to love her and I won’t let her down. I won’t let you down.”
***
“Honey, are you okay?” John asked his daughter.
She shook her head as she looked down. “Dad, he’s dying…”
He wrapped his arms around her. “I…I don’t know what to say…”
“I will never forgive her. She let you come alone, dad. The hardest moment of my life and she isn’t with me. I’m never forgiving her.”
“Cecilia…your mother is very busy.”
“Stop defending her!” She yelled. “Stop defending her when all she’s going is tearing us apart! When all she’s doing is making my life a living hell! Stop defending her!”
“Cecilia, calm down. Please, just calm down.”
“Lia…”
She looked towards the door as Zayn stood there, his eyes glossy. “W-What…?”
“Lia, I’m so sorry…” He spoke, his voice breaking.
Her eyes widened. “N-No…No…Zayn…tell me…please…please tell me you’re joking.”
He shook his head. “I’m so sorry, Lia.”
And at that moment, she felt like the walls were closing in on her as she took in his words. Without thinking, she pushed through Zayn and ran into the room to see him there.
Eyes closed.
Face pale.
Those beautiful blue eyes that she had grown to love. Those beautiful blue eyes that held so much love and care.
She ran to him. “Bryan, Bryan wake up! Bryan, wake up! Wake up! Wake up!” She yelled, grabbing his shoulders. “Bryan wake up!” She collapsed onto his body as she shook with sobs. “Don’t die! Don’t die! Please don’t die!”
But it was useless as she held his cold body, Zayn and her dad looking at her with wide, teary eyes. And it was like De Ja vu to Zayn, a person who was so in love, holding the dead body of their beloved, crying to no end.
It was like De Ja vu.
Beautiful brown eyes crying over the beautiful blue eyes that will never be seen again.
And that’s when it hit him. That’s when he realized that this, everything that happened, is history repeating itself.
History repeating itself because it wasn’t done right the first time. History repeating itself to show that moving on from someone doesn’t mean forgetting them.
And then he thought that maybe, just maybe, Bryan coming into their lives, growing close to them, saying everything that he said, his blue eyes, him dying…maybe it was a sign. Maybe it was Perrie telling him that it was alright for him to love Cecilia.
And he knew what he had to do as he wrapped his arms around her sobbing body, holding her close to him as she buried her face into his neck, crying her eyes out over the death of her first love.
And somewhere in her mind, past the sobbing and grief, there was that one thought. That thought that maybe this is how Zayn felt. Maybe this is how he reacted. Maybe that short story that she wrote was not only meant to be about Zayn’s lover, but hers also. Maybe, just maybe, she was tied to Zayn.
But now, in his arms, that brought somewhat of calmness, she cried her eyes out. She cried and cried until there were no more tears left. She cried until they came in and took his body away, despite her screaming and yelling for them to give her more time.
“It’s alright to cry, love. Just let it all out. You’re going to be alright. I know you will.” He whispered in her ear as she continued to cry. But he couldn’t help but cry along with her as all the memories came back.
The rain hitting his body when he held Perrie’s dead body.
And at that moment, all both wanted was to see those beautiful blue eyes one last time and thank them for giving them the best love they can give.
