[Her Between The Past And The Future]

Chapter 18

Ok. This happened just before everything happened..

"Finally! Free at last!"

A girl with a pink hair raised her arms up happily. A big smile forming on her face. Her brother laughed at her while he put their bag on the ground to rest his starting to numb hand. "You're really that happy, aye?"

"Who doesn't? You're also happy yourself that we can now leave that place." She retorted.

He nodded "Yeah," his face turning serious "It is as if you are in hell literally when you're inside that place" The girl nodded in agreement.

The two continued on their way to the next town where they'll carry on with their goal; Inazuma town. Fortunately for them, the owner of their previous place was kind —not really— enough to rent them an apartment at the next town so that they won't have any problem with finding one. 'Thank you to that at least' Rina and Kaito thought.

"Welcome, welcome! Come inside!" An old woman urged the siblings to enter and closed the door behind her. She motioned them to follow her and took them on a mini tour around the house. And finally, it was time for the old woman to leave the rest to them and lead them to their respective rooms then gave the key of the apartment.

Rina dropped her bag and plopped herself on the bed. She's so tired and the comfy bed wasn't helping her to stay awake and repack her clothes. But then gave in minutes later.

"Rina. Are you here?" 

Kaito opened the door and looked around. He was about to continue when he saw his sister resting peacefully on her bed. He smiled and silently closed the door.

"Sleep well"

Days had gone by, and they are now used to their new lifestyle with Kaito always bragging about his cooking skills every morning and Rina just ignoring him, tried to have a nice morning. She sipped her milk prepared by her brother and stared at the window beside her. 

Another day had passed and their lives are still peacefull yet boring. She hoped something will happen to cease the boredom that's turning them to insanity. Indeed it is good to have a peaceful life, but having one is now strange specially if you're living on this world.

She sighed, and looked away  from the window to her brother who was cooking in the kitchen. Was he also thinking the same thing as she? Besides, after this peaceful life something will definitely happen, she's sure of it.

Knock! Knock!

"Ah! Can you open the door for me, Rina? I'm kinda busy." 

Kaito's voice called out as a sizzling sound and a tasty aroma came out from the kitchen. Rina did as told and walked herself towards the front door. 

The pinkette halted.

 'Something feels not right' she thought. Unlike any normal humans that couldn't feel the danger that things are emitting like for someone who is planning on stealing or maybe killing kind of feeling. To be honest, she and her brother were being experimented on at the orphanage along with the other orphans. They did not know the reason why but enhancing people's senses and physical strength is what they want. Some had not survived the terror of what they'd gone through and the siblings are more than thankful that they were alive and well.

She felt the tremendous energy of someone behind that door, and it's bad to assume that it was safe to open the door with welcoming smile and say; "Hey there, stranger. What brings you here?" And those kind of stuff.
