"Capricorn and his men are being taken to the headquarters, heavily guarded, there's no need to be afraid. VIETRA will take care of him'
Kat nodded in a disheartened okay
"Anyways" mark continued 'What are you doing here. He mentioned something about you having the Salthazar and the Vanaga stone'
"Ah! I don't have either, Salthazar- long story. And the stone... well I did go to the cavern" she quickly stood to her defence "but just because I wanted to see how it was"
Mark squinted, he questioned her words but did not ask about it
"Where's Ava?"
"She's at our relatives house like I mentioned in my text, which I hope you read" she had to stick to her story, Mark couldn't know about Nick, he'd choose the stone over anyone else in a second.
"Ah I see" he shrugged and raised his eyebrows "so you didn't take or find the stone"
"I didn't bother to. I just wanted to see the place, like I said'"
Suddenly her backpack felt heavier, maybe because of the lies and the realization that the stone was in it. She hated lying to Mark but some sacrifices must be made.
"Listen' she said to Mark 'I am going to Ava. I want to meet up and talk with our family for a while and we'll come back tonight. It's okay with you right?"
'Yeah sure, you're old enough, I believe. And I don't think me saying no would stop you'"he let out a chuckle "Though next time, don't leave a text, call. Take care"
"yes, I will, and thank you"
"For what"
"Everything you've done for us. We really appreciate it, Ava more than me"
He replied with a soothing smile, his kindness showed in his eyes,that was one of the things that had made Kat trust him when she first saw Mark
"Well" she said "I better go"
