Mal, Evie, and Carlos had a plan.

They had a plan to get Jay and Gil together.

The romantic tension between them had not gone unnoticed before now, just not addressed. Now, however, was the time that they decided to push the two people who obviously wouldn't make moves on each other otherwise, together.

Carlos had told both Gil and Jay separately to go to a particular spot in the forest at noon. At that spot, they had placed a picnic basket with many variations of fruits for them to enjoy while hopefully chatting. Now, all they had to do was wait for noon.

Approaching noon, the trio snuck off towards the forest, where they had the genius idea of hiding behind a log in order to spy on them.

"That's my toe!" Mal hissed at Carlos, gritting her teeth at the log they had chosen to hide behind, which wasn't very large at all. Definitely not big enough to hide three people without them piling on top of each other. "Why couldn't we have used one of your fancy techy things to just video record this? Or at least have hidden in a place that can fit three people!"

"Because it's not the same as witnessing it up-front." Carlos answered, "As for the hiding spot, well. Yeah, we should've picked somewhere else."

Carlos looked back out into the forest, before looking back towards Mal with a face of confusion. "Why are we spying on them anyway? Shouldn't this be a private moment?"

At the sound of crunching twigs becoming louder and louder, Evie's head shot up towards the place where they had placed the picnic. She elbowed Mal, nodding her head toward the picnic area.

"It's too late to go back now they're here. Be quiet you two or else they'll hear us and our plan will be ruined."

The two guys emerged from opposite ends of the forest, stopping in their footsteps once they spotted each other.

This, was something they did not expect.

Jay let out a nervous laugh, before apprehensively approaching Gil, slightly waving.

"Hey, so uh, what are you doing here?"

Gil stumbled on his words a bit before replying, "Picnic."

Jay nodded awkwardly, before replying, "Same."

"I guess we could share it, then?" Gil nervously said, sitting down at the basket. Jay nodded and sat across from Gil, reaching out to open the lid.

What was in it had brought a smile to both of their faces. Berries. Lots of them. It wasn't an ideal nutritious lunch picnic, but tpit didn't matter to them. They both shared a love for berries.

They shot each other brief smiles before digging in, eating berries to their hearts content.

They enjoyed each other's presence, eating berries. However Gil had a fleeting urge to start up a conversation. Unfortunately, he had acted upon that urge without much thought.

"So, you play sports," Gil started, becoming anxious and avoiding eye contact. Why did he do that? He was regretting trying to start up a conversation. He was perfectly content with just sitting and eating.

"Yeah, tourney. It's great"

"You look great," Gil said without much thought. Quickly, he had realized what he had said, snapping his head upward with a shocked expression.

"Oh, uh," Jay stuttered, not really knowing what to say. They had sat in awkward silence for a few moments, both staring at the ground, not really knowing what to say.

He didn't know what was overcoming him. He'd usually be so witty, so good with words. You had to be when you lived on the Isle. But here with Gil? He stumbled over his words, unable to hold a conversation without trembling greatly.

"Thanks. You look great too" Jay finished, breaking the silence, now looking straight at Gil, unknowingly beginning to admire him.

"Oh uh, thank you."

They sustained eye contact, seemingly getting lost in each other's eyes. They subconsciously leaned closer together, the sweet berries being forgotten about swiftly. The romantic tension was thick in the air, begging to be released.

Gil snapped out of the trance first and tried to back up. Unfortunately, he failed and ended up tripping on a branch that miraculously appeared behind him, sending him flying backwards

What he didn't expect was Jay's muscular arms wrapping around him, catching him in a dip before he could fall onto the muddy forest floor.

Gil's mouth hung slightly opened, gaping at Jay, not expecting to be caught, especially not by Jay. They stood like that for awhile, Jay mentally fought himself. He was in the perfect position to do what he didn't know he wanted to do until now. It made sense to him now, all the awkward moments between him and Gil. All the spontaneous looks and glances they shared.

It made sense.

He leaned down and quickly pecked Gil's lips before bringing Gil up into a standing position once more. An electrifying feeling lingered in them both. They had finally eased the romantic tension. They held onto eachother, not being able to move because of the pure bliss and excitement from the one tiny kiss.

Gil wore a shocked expression, his hands still holding onto Jay's biceps where they had been in their previous position. Slowly, the shocked expression turned into a large grin before running off to scream to the world about how Jay had just kissed him.

Meanwhile, Jay was left with the exact same dumbfounded grin, his arms still holding onto the space where Gil had been. This, he felt, was a feeling above winning any sports competition.

His grin only grew wider and wider, before fist pumping the air and running off to go tell Carlos.

Carlos and the others emerged from the bush, wearing a mix of happiness ad worriedness. Happiness at the fact that the two bumbling awkward idiots had finally gotten together and addressed the romantic tension. Worriedness at the fact that Jay had run off to go presumably tell them, but would quickly discover that Carlos was not in their dorm.

"They're so cute together. I'm glad we did this, Evie." Mal exclaimed, standing up happily, clapping her hands together, with Evie nodding in agreement. "We better go before we get caught meddling and Jay yells at us. You, Carlos, however, better use your dog ability to go get to your dorm before he can." Mal joked, knowingly calling Carlos' running ability his 'Dog Ability,' when she knew that he always got annoyed with it for some reason. All the more fun for Mal.

"I set up this whole thing, and this is the thanks I get? Wow." Carlos jested before gesturing farewell to the girls and running off towards the dorms to listen to Jay's excited speech.

I haven't written in so long, and I'm so sorry about it! Life's gotten hectic and I've sort of fallen out of interest with Descendents. I'll still be continuing this and updating once in awhile when inspiration strikes for this fandom, just not very frequently.
