“Mom, when I grow up, can I marry him?” I asked while tugging on my mom’s shirt.

“Who, Xiao Yue?”

“That guy, mom!” I said pointing at the standee we just passed by.

“Superman?” I nodded. “You want to marry a superhero?”

“Can I not?” I asked, a bit sad.

“Of course, you can, baby. But you’re only 8 years old. When you grow up, Superman will be old already.”

“I don’t care.”

“Well, okay then. My baby Yue can marry whoever she wants to marry.”

“Yay!” I shouted as I ran towards the standee to hug it. “When I grow up, you will be my husband!”

I laughed at the memory of my 8-year old self. What made me think I can actually marry some fictional character?

I remember it was around 6th grade when I finally realized that my dream wedding is nowhere near possible. Although that didn’t changed the fact that I love superheroes, comics and anime.

I looked at the leaflet I am holding. This is exactly the reason why I go on comic conventions, just like this one.

I entered the hall, looking amazed. This isn’t my first comic-con but it always feels great to be able to come here.

“Out of the way! Out of the way! Hulk incoming!” it was already too late when I heard someone shouted. I was pushed to the side by this guy wearing a hulk costume. It was a hard push, but to my surprise, I didn’t fall.

“Uhm… Are you okay?” I looked up at the guy whose face was right in front of mine, that’s when it dawned on me that he caught me on his arms.

I quickly stood up. I studied his face for a while, he looks familiar.

“Thank you…” I said, bowing down to show gratitude. “I’m sorry, what’s your name?”

He leaned close to me, making me step back involuntarily. When he noticed, he stopped. But because I felt awkward, I leaned a little closer.

“I’m Superman.” He whispered in my ear.

I rolled my eyes. “You’re from my university. I recognize you, I just don’t know your name.”

He laughed. “Oh, that sucks.”

“So, are you going to tell me or not?” I asked.

“Why, I didn’t know you’re so eager to find out who I am.”

I glared at him. “You know what? Forget about it. I just wanted to thank you properly, but forget it.” I started walking away.

“Hey, hey. You’re so serious. After I saved you from falling there? Don’t you want to know my name?”

I looked at him again, but I didn’t say any word.

“Actually, I’m your man.”

“Jeez, you are making me cringe. Just forget about it. But thank you, anyway.” I continued walking until I found myself being pushed again, by a crowd this time. And I realized that, when I’m back on his arms again.

“I guess, I saved you twice today, Lois.”

“First of all, my name is not Lois. Second, can you stop creeping me out?” I, once again, quickly stood up. My clumsy self, tch.
