I lied down on the soft green grass beside the river. I felt the heat of the sun kissing my skin as the wind blows through it. I checked the time.

9: 04 in the morning.

I smiled. It was around this time also, 8 years ago when I met her. Our examination week then has just finished and I decided to go here, to unwind.

Who would regret not going to their offer to have an online match? I’m here enjoying the nature, this is real relaxation, healing.

I closed my eyes and breathe in the fresh air. This has always been my thing. Whenever I am stressed or sad, I go here. And since I have just finished the first quarter exam for seventh grade, I need to rest my mind from worries.

It was then that I suddenly heard giggles. I sat right up and searched from where the voice is coming.

It was from a girl. She was twirling while running, and giggling while at it. I was annoyed at how noisy she is but when her I saw her face, my heart was suddenly calmed.

She’s really pretty. She’s small, but she looks like she’s around my age. I stared at her for a while. Somehow, the way she’s happily minding her own world makes me happy, too. Her smile’s contagious.

She stopped in front of me and looked straight into my eyes. She was quite shocked, I guess she didn’t noticed me at first.

“Oh, hello! Good morning to you!” she said in a very bright tone.

“G-good morning to you, too.” I scratched the back of my head when I stuttered. Why did I stutter? Maybe because I wasn’t expecting her to ne this bright and greet me openly.

“My name is Yue. We just moved here. And you are?” she said while sitting next to me.

“I’m Dylan.”

“Great! I hope we can be friends.” She extended her arm to me. We shook hands.

“Yes, sure. So, uhm, how did you find this place?” I asked.

“Oh, my father was the one who decided for us to live here.”

“No, I mean this, the riverside, how did you find it? Not a lot of people go here. That’s why it’s like a silent sanctuary.”

“I saw it when we were on the way to out new home. I’m sorry, do you not like me being in here?” She asked. She doesn’t sound offended or anything, just plain curious.

“No, no. I was just curious.” I quickly answered. “Besides, I guess, it’s nice to have company.”

“I’m glad you’re not pushing me out.” She looked at me and smiled. “You know what, maybe this can be our hiding place, a rendezvous.”

I laughed. “Why would you hide though?”

“Nothing. You know, just in case our parents get really angry at us, when smoke escapes their noses and ears, this can be a good place to go.” She said while acting how the smoke goes out of the nose and ears.

“I never thought of that.” I smiled. “But I guess you are right. Since now, I have someone to confide into.”

“But ultimately, I just like peacefulness and silence, too. Especially before I go into my new school on Monday.”
