Yue was sitting on their meet up place, contemplating whether to leave or stay there. If she leaves, what will her reason be? If she stays, what will he tell him? Should she pretend not to know anything when their photos and videos were literally everywhere on weibo.
She looked at the stars looking for a sign but she got lost in the beauty of the sky. And that somehow made her calm.
How fun would it be if you're one of them. Lighting the way at night and having the power to ease one's worries.
It was then when someone suddenly covered her eyes. Her initial reaction was to hit whoever it was but her hand was blocked.
"Hey, you gonna hit me?" The person covering his eyes asked. She knows that voice too well. And suddenly her heart started beating fast again. She hasn't made a decision yet and here he is already.
"Dylan." She said in a soft voice. "Sorry."
He laughed. "Don't worry, I know you ain't strong strong for nothing."
She smiled faintly. How is she supposed to react to that? If the news didn't broke out, she would have continued hitting him.
Is that what she's supposed to do now? And why is he acting so normal? Do they pretend that nothing happened?
She held her hands together, tryung to press down the ache that she suddenly felt in her heart.
"So, I brought some food." Dylan said while preparing what he brought. "We can have a lot picnic."
She felt her throat dry, so instead of answering she just nodded her head.
He'll notice it. She just knows he will. She's not usually like this. She's mostly loud around him.
"Is there a problem?"
With her head still down, she forced a smile before facing him.
"No, should there be one?" Oh, no. Why did she asked that? Now, he's gonna think there's really something.
Dylan put down the takeouta he bought from a chinese restaurant that he passed by.
"Yue, talk to me. Tell me what's bothering you."
Tears suddenly formed in her eyes, and she doesn't even know why. Dylan saw this and quickly cupped her face.
"Hey, you can talk to me. Tell me."
She was taking a deep breath, preparing to talk when a sob suddenly escaped. "I don't know." She told him. "You act ĺike nothing's happening, and I don't know what to feel. Your pictures with that girl is everywhere. I saw them, too. But you never mentioned anything. Those days that you were together, we were talking! We were constantly texting each other. I feel like I shouldn't be worried but I am. I don't want to but I can't help it. I don't know the truth. I want to ask but I'm afraif the answer will hurt me." She talked continuously, sobs coming out every end of her sentence.
Dylan hugged her. Rubbing her back.
"Hey, I chose you. And remember what I told you? When I choose you, it will always be you."
She felt relieved but her heart wasn't contented with the answer. "But those pictures and videos."
"I was wrong, I am sorry. I didn't tell you. She asked if we could talk. I agreed, I thought it was a good chance to end things with her in a peaceful way. So that we can still be friends. She didn't have any place to stay, so our common friend offered her a room, coincidentally, it was on the same building where I live. But that's just it. Those pictures and videos that you saw was just me trying to end things with her. It was my fault I didn't tell you. I thought now it's over, it doesn't need to be brought up."
Yue looked at him in the eyes while explaining. She saw how sincere he is.
"But the chicken?" She asked. That one thing keeps bothering her.
Dylan sighed. "One last time. That's what she asked. I told her okay, but doesn't mean anything."
She nodded.
"I am really sorry, Yue. I didn't think it through. I was wrong. I didn't think paps will go through all that just to capture us. I am sorry for not telling you. It will never happen again. What happened between us before is now finished. I am with you and only you. Please, please forgive me."
Maybe it's her kind heart, or maybe he just loves him too much that made her forgive him easily.
"I will forgive you, but I don't think I'll forget about this easily." She truthfully answered.
"And you don't have to." Dylan quickly muttered. "Because this will serve as a lesson for me. A reminder not to keep anything from you ever again."
Yue smiled. Her first genuine smile since that day when she found out about it.
Dylan, in return, smiled, too. Relieved because he was actually nervous about opening the topic about it, too. Relieved because Yue forgave him even though he had his shortcomings as her boyfriend. But also determined not to make the same mistake again.
Dylan took the takeouts again and gave the other one to Yue. "Happy Qixi Festival, Yue."
Yue took the food and replied, "Happy Qixi Festival."
