Layla's POV
I looked at the clock for the hundredth time. 7:00 am. We have been on the road for 13 hours and I had to force Ash to let me drive because he was getting tired. So now I'm driving with the sun shining in the mirrors. Ash stirred next to me.
"Are we there yet?" His husky voice reached my ears making me shiver with delight.
"No, not yet. We have two hours left." I answered him. I started to sing along to the radio to pass the time. We had to stop at a 7/11 to fuel up and get some breakfast. When Ash was ordering us breakfast from Subway I snuck off to the 7/11 store. I spotted the Krispy Kreme's. Yummy. After eating and fuelling up we left to travel the last two hours.
TWO HOURS LATER
We pulled up at a heavily guarded gate.
"What are you doing here?" A gruff voice came through the open window.
"We are here to see the King and Queen, sir. I am the Luna of the Blood Moon Pack. The Alpha called yesterday to inform the queen we would arrive today." I explained to the burly man. His eyes glazed over to indicate that he was linking someone.
"You are free to proceed Luna and Alpha. The queen is expecting you." I smiled and thanked him as we drove off up the cobblestone drive. Ash parked the car and the valet promised that our luggage would be brought up to our room immediately. Ash and I were escorted inside the grand palace. I was in awe of the place. It was like me dream house come true. Maybe Ash could build a new packhouse to accommodate our large pack. A young lady walked down the grand staircase. Her brown hair fanned around her beautiful face. She wore a light blue casual floor-length dress with white strapped sandals.
"Hello, I'm Queen Morgan. It is so great to meet you. My mate will join us later. How was your trip from the Summer Sunset Pack?" Luna Queen Morgan asked.
"It was beautiful. The green forests and crystal blue oceans were to die for, Your Majesty." I answered formally.
"Please call me Morgan." Morgan's brown eyes sparkled with delight.
"Oh, how rude of me. I'm Layla and this is my mate Ash, Alpha and Luna of the Blood Moon Pack." I smiled shyly. Morgan smiled back at me.
"Would you like to freshen up and go for a dip in the pool." I nodded and one of the maids showed us to our room. We stepped in the huge room and saw our suitcases were bedside a king-sized four-poster bed with satin material slyly wrapped around the top of the posts. I walked over to my suitcase and opened it looking for me swimmers. I walked over to a set of doors and opened them up to find a humongous bathroom. It held a large shower, hot tub, bathtub, and vanity. I gave a short squeal and rushed in. I changed into my two-piece and sarong before exiting the grand bathroom. Ash was dress in only blue and yellow-flowered board shorts. We grabbed two towels off the dresser and headed outside. I had to ask one of the wolves to show us to the backyard. She scoffed at us.
"Why would the Beta Female help common wolves." She gave a dark laugh and tried to walk off. I grabbed her arm tightly and the air around us morphed into a breeze.
"How dare you insult an Alpha and Luna?" Sophie and I were pi$$ed. The she-wolf trembled under my hands as the wind picked up.
"Are you the Air Elemental?" Her voice quivered in fear. I didn't answer her but I gave her a scary look. She mumbled about something about showing us outside. As I calmed down so did the wind.
"To answer your question, no I am not the Air Elemental." I spoke softly. We reached the backdoor and the young wolf let us out. We stepped out on the patio and placed our towels on vacant loungers. I removed my sarong and the wolves outside gasped. I looked at myself. The air symbol was tattooed on my right hip, fire on the left side of my ribs, water right side and earth on my left hip.
-Sophie! - I screamed in my mind.
-What? Oh the tatts, cool huh? - She giggled like a schoolgirl. I growled at her.
-Okay, you get them about now. A couple of weeks after you shift into your elemental state. Your spirit one will come in soon. - She sounded half-heartedly serious. I didn't like that all these wolves were staring at me. Ash growled when the males didn't avert their eyes from my body. I readied myself to dive into the pool when one overly cocky wolf-whistled at me. Morgan threw a deadly glare his way and a growl rumbled through Ash. I forced Ash to stand still with the air. Ash looked at me with shock and rage. I gave him a loving look and he calmed down. I relaxed the air around him and dived into the cool water. It felt refreshing on my warm skin. Spring in Queensland could get quite warm but never as hot as summer. When I surfaced Ash was having a growling match with the young wolf.
"Ash, Ash!" I yelled out but my calling fell on deaf ears. Morgan pointed to her eyes and they changed from pitch black to chocolate brown. Then it clicked, it wasn't Ash. I swam over to the edge of the pool closest to them
"Timbre, Timbre!" I screamed as Timbre was about to shift. His head snapped my way. His eyes were midnight black. I hauled myself out of the pool and walked over to my fuming mate. I rested my hand on his bare shoulder and I felt Ash relax under my touch.
"Don't ever do that again." I growled warning the young wolf. I could tell he was unmated. Ash and I slipped into the cool water when then male wolf walked away. A female brunette walked out with an assortment of alcoholic beverages. I reached out a snagged a bourbon and coke and a beer for Ash, I thanked her.
"So I heard that the Elementals have surfaced." Morgan commented after her third vodka.
"Yes, they have. As everyone noticed before, I am the Major Elemental. We have just left the Summer Sunset Pack and heading to the Blue Moon Pack." I informed the Queen. She nodded her head slowly. Ash had told me that he wanted to take me out tonight. So I got out dried of and headed for our bathroom. After having a quick shower and got ready. Ash had booked a table at a fancy restaurant. I wore a light pink dress that ended just above my knees. I wore white heels and I curled my hair in loose ringlets. I added minimal makeup and grabbed my white clutch. I headed out the bedroom door and strutted down the hallway to the set of stairs the led down to the foyer. I saw Ash standing at the foot of the stairs, dressed in a light mint green dress shirt and black slacks. He gave me my favourite lopsided smile. I returned it as a stunning one. I descended the stairs and took his outstretched hand.
"You look stunning as usual." He whispered as lips made contact with my cheek. I gave him a thumbs-up approval. We walked out of the palace and into our waiting car. We drove into the city looking for the restaurant that the King and Queen booked for us. We finally stopped at an Italian place. A male host greeted us at the door. The male introduced himself as John as he showed us to our table near the back. Everyone stared at us like we didn't belong like we were outsiders. I discreetly sniffed the air and found that this place was full of wolves. I held my head high and sat down in the chair that was held out by Ash. He ordered an expensive bottle of red wine. I raised my eyebrow in confusion.
"Nathan and Morgan insisted on paying for tonight so indulge yourself, Baby." Ash explained in a low voice. An older waiter came over with the bottle of red. He poured us a glass each and I took a sip of mine and the sweet red grape taste exploded on my tongue. It was exquisite and I couldn't get enough of it. We ordered our meals and waited in silence.
"You said that you broke up with Stella, I know that. She said that you would have made her Luna if I didn't wake up." I voiced my troubling thoughts.
"My pack would have been without a Luna if you never woke up. Stella was obsessed with being Luna. When she found out that she wasn't my mate she was furious. She tried to force herself on me but I knew you were my mate. I have always had a crush on you. So when I heard about what happened to you, I was by your side whenever I could. Stella got mad and tried to stop me from seeing you. After my eighteenth when I found out that you were my mate, I immediately dumped Stella." I understood where he was coming from. I closed my eyes and leaned over the table and connected our lips.
