Chapter 2: New Beginnings and Old Habits
Aisha Fancy Lee
I woke up to the blaring sound of an alarm clock by my ear. What the fudge, ang aga naman! I was supposed to be resting today since I was kicked out of school. But of course, my yayas don't care. Wala akong pasok, pero sila, parang tanga, ginising pa ako ng sobrang aga.
With a deep sigh, I dragged myself out of bed and made my way downstairs. Ala singko pa lang, and I had no choice but to face the reality that today was going to be another exhausting one.
"Yaya, ba't ang aga n'yo naman ako ginising?" I complained as I made my way down the stairs, still half asleep. I gave her a sideways glance, but she only looked at me with that unimpressed expression. It's not like she cared anyway.
"Magbihis ka na lang, Aisha. Huwag kang maarte, hindi bagay sayo," she replied, sounding way too composed for someone who had no idea how my life felt. Nahiya na lang ako. The truth is, ako pa yung nahihiya, pero deep inside, it's not like I could argue. Ang dami ko na ring iniiwasang tao, and this was just another example of me facing the unavoidable.
I grabbed a quick shower, and changed. I stared at the outfit on my bed for a while, thinking if it was too much—or too chill. I ended up picking my high-waisted ripped jeans, a cropped white top with a bit of lace on the sleeves, and my black leather jacket. It was giving clean but still tough. Paired it with my white Air Force 1s, of course. Can’t go wrong with classics.
I fixed my hair into a messy high ponytail, slipped on some gold hoops, and stood in front of the mirror. I gave myself a quick once-over.
Not bad.
My skin looked okay—thank God for skincare. My eyeliner was on point, sharp enough to cut. Lips, natural pout. Brows, shaped and filled. I smirked a little. I looked... confident. Strong. The type you’d think twice before messing with. And that’s exactly what I needed right now.
With my trusty baseball bat in hand-always prepared for any fight-I slung my bag over my shoulder. Let's do this.
"Dad, saan tayo pupunta?" I asked, as we hopped into the car. I was already feeling weird about this whole situation.
"Sumakay ka na lang, Aisha," he replied, his voice distant, like he was talking to someone else. I looked behind me, and that's when I noticed two huge suitcases in the backseat. My dad was leaving, but I wasn't invited.
"Dad, san ka magt-travel?" I asked, almost desperate to understand why I was left out.
We stopped the car, and my dad took out the suitcases from the back. That's when I realized, I didn't even need to ask him. The question that mattered was mine to answer.
"Aisha, saan ka magt-travel?" I asked sarcastically, staring ahead, frustrated by the silence.
"Lumabas ka na d'yan," he muttered.
I was about to argue when I looked up-and I couldn't believe what I saw. The entrance to Go University was massive. If anything, it looked more like a resort than a school. It was so big, it almost felt like a motel. The sight alone made me question if I really wanted to be here.
"Hi, Mr. Lee and Ms. Lee! Welcome to Go University!" A cheerful voice greeted us, but I didn't even bother with a smile. I just shot the girl a look, annoyed by the plastic nature of her smile.
"Hi," I muttered, when suddenly, a girl appeared right in front of me. I didn't pay much attention, but then I heard her laugh with her friend, and it made me wonder-what was so funny?
