Chapter 5: The Night of Chaos

Aisha Fancy Lee

Second year college. Business Management.

Sounds boring, I know. But when you're born into wealth, you don't really get to pick your battles. My family practically shoved the course down my throat, like it’s some sort of badge of honor. "You're going to handle the company someday," they said. Well, joke's on them—I don't even know if I wanna be part of their damn legacy. Kidding, I love to help dad.

I stepped into the classroom, Room 3-C, like I always do—chin up, face blank, heels echoing across the glossy floor. My Prada tote swayed by my side as I scanned the rows without really looking at anyone. They always stared. Whether it’s envy or fear, I stopped trying to tell the difference.

To them, I’m the untouchable one. The Gangster Princess. Rich kid with a killer gaze. But if they could hear the noise in my head… they’d know I’m far from untouchable.

I slid into my seat and let out a sigh. I should be focusing on the lecture about marketing strategies, but all I could hear was Alex’s voice playing over and over again in my mind.

“Nangako ka, Aisha. Bakit naulit na naman?” Alex’s voice was filled with frustration. She was clearly worried again.

“I don’t know,” I muttered, not even trying to hide my indifference. Who am I kidding? I didn’t know what was happening anymore.

But deep down, I knew. Promises? They were meant to be broken.

Like how Alex promised she’d be there for me, but all of that—every word—just fell apart. It’s like nothing in my life ever really sticks. Masanay na kayo, 'di ba? Sometimes, I just do what I want. If it feels right, I’ll just go for it.

I snapped in reality when I saw my classmates, surprise of the year. My classmates?

Reid Dale Go.

Dylan Kim.

Jake Dee.

I froze for a second, blinking as if my eyes were playing tricks on me. What the hell were they doing here?

But no. It was really them.

The infamous trio. The heirs of powerful families. Gang leaders in disguise, but apparently also enrolled in Business Management.

Because of course they were. The rich love to stay rich.

I slipped into my seat and let out a silent laugh. The universe had jokes today.

Reid was sitting diagonally across the room, one arm slung lazily over the back of his chair, black hoodie on despite the warm air, eyes sharp like daggers under dark lashes. His jaw was clenched, and his entire body screamed don’t talk to me unless you have a death wish.

He didn’t look at me. Not even once.

But I looked.

Not because I liked him—no, not in that way. But there was something magnetic about Reid. He was cold. Calculated. The kind of guy who didn’t flinch when things got bloody. And that made him fun to annoy.
