Sav's POV
Beep
Beep,
Beep,
Beep,
Beep,
Beep,
Beep,
Beep,
It sounded like a heartbeat but it was starting to get on my nerves. What is that irritating noise? I groaned mentally. I squeezed my eyes shut tighter, not really wanting to get up, before I fluttered them open. I quickly shut them again.
The light was too bright and it hurt to open my eyes.
Come on Sav, you can do it, I mentally cheered myself on as I took a deep breath and slowly peeked through my lashes. The light didn't hurt so bad this time. It took my vision a moment to not be blurry before I was able to examine my surroundings and find the source of that bloody noise.
Bright blue walls. There were slightly calming.
Icky light green hospital bed sheets. They were beginning to itch. I went to reach them when I noticed something else.
I glanced at my arms.
Several I.V. tubes.
This meant one thing. I'm in the hospital.
But why?
I closed my eyes again before I opened them as the door opened with a whining high pitched creak. The beeping sound increased and it took me a moment to realize that it was a heart monitor. It was a signal I was alive. That I was in a hospital. But why was I in the hospital? I don't remember anything. The last thing I remember is a quiet evening with Sam.
"Sav?" a familiar voice said. My gaze went to the person by the door and my heart leaped into my throat, as tears pricked my eyes as I took in the familiar figure at the doorway.
Sammy!
She looked exhausted in a pair of wrinkly jeans and an even more winkled sweatshirt. She had dark circles and bags under her eyes. She had a coffee and some flowers in her hand while she stood there. Her hair was pulled back into a loose pony tail and it was obvious she hadn't changed in a day or so. The clothes and the hair looked slept in. It looked like she hadn't been home in days.
"Sam," I croaked, my voice hoarse. I needed water. My throat was a freaking desert. Tears sprang into her eyes. She set down the coffee and flowers before she rushed to me quickly, gently wrapping her arms my shoulders as I wrapped mine around her waist. Is it me or does she feel a bit thinner? Like she recently just lost weight? I felt her kiss the top of my head lovingly and I giggled softly. Such a mother, this one, but my heart ached in my chest as I realized I missed her. How long was I out? It feels like its been a while. A long while. We hugged for the longest time ever and reluctantly she let me go and wiped her eyes, which had been leaking salty liquids for the past couple minutes.
"I'm going to call a nurse," she said. I nodded. She squeezed my shoulder, pecked my forehead once more and she went to the hall to call one in.

After the nurse checked my blood pressure, heart rate, vital signs, look over my chars, give me water and more pain medication, though I didn't know why I needed it, she left me and Sam alone. Sam pulled up a chair next to my bed as I put myself into a sitting position. I winced as pain radiated through my back, but it was quickly chased away from the pain meds. Sam took my hand and gave me a sad smile.
"Sam?" I asked. She gave me a look that told me to go on so I did. Her hand was warm in mine and only then did I realize how cold I was. "Why am I here?"
She frowned, tears in her eyes. "Yo-you don't remember? Do you remember anything? At al?" she asked. Her voice was barely above a whisper. I shook my head, biting my lip. Should I know? Well obviously I should, but I don't. Why?
"You were in a car accident Savanna." I felt my stomach drop as she continued. "You were speeding while it was storming. You lost control of your car and went nose first into the concrete barrier. The doc said you hit your head pretty hard. He also mentioned that you might have temporary amnesia. I just so glad you remember me at least. I'd be a bit offended if you didn't." She gave a half hearted chuckle at the end of her statement. Her eyes were sad though and I'm not sure what the extent of the truth she gave me was.
I nodded, a small smile on my lips as she finished. Well that explains a lot. Why I'm in the hospital. The lack of memory. The pain in my back. The pain medication the nurse gave me. The look the nurse and Sam gave me when they saw me as if me waking up had been a freaking miracle and I'd been in some coma for months. Speaking of which....
"Sam?" she gave me a small hmm as she rubbed my hand, supportively. "How long have a been out?" I asked, softly, not really sure if I really wanted an answer to that. She squeezed my hand.
"Nearly a week. I've been skipping work to come see you, along with the others," she whispered. She pursed her lips before she continued. "It's been hell waiting for you to wake up. None of us have left the hospital for more than half an hour while you've been here. Kate and I have been going out of our minds. And poor Chris is nearly insane that he can't come see you." I glanced up at her, confusion running through me.
Chris? Who was Chris? The name sounded familiar, like he was important to me, but no face came to mind. I opened my mouth to ask her what was on my mind when a voice interrupted.
"Oh my god. Sav?"
