I wasn't enough.

Chapter 4

Lucy's POV

It's 10:30am on a Sunday and I had told my mom I'd visit her today. David still wasn't home from lastnight and I didn't want to leave my mom waiting.

I've tried calling him about 7 times and he still hasn't answered, so I left a note on the fridge and went to moms house.

She lives about an hour an a half away and I had work tomorrow so, at the latest I want to be back at 10pm.

Where could he be?

Davids POV

"Shit! Is that the time? 10:30???? I'm supposed to be going with Lucy to see her mom!"

"What's the big deal? It's not like Lucy knows your here" Emily says in a tired tone

"Just come back to bed" she moans.

She's so damn sexy.

"7 missed calls and 4 text messages? Oh no, she left without me... I had a surprise for her" I say with regret.

"Well it doesn't matter anymore she left without you..."

"I should've just went back home when I said I would" I say angrily.

Emily looks at me, tears filling in her eyes

"So... what? I don't mean anything to you anymore?"

A tear falls from her eye and she quickly wipes it away.

"Babe... babe. I didn't mean it like that, I just love her mom, she always brightens my day" I say rubbing her face.

It seems that didn't change her expression so I look at her with soft eyes.

"Hey, you mean the world to me, but you've got to remember I am married. That means I know a lot about her family and her. But I love you"

She looks at me and blinks away the tears. A small smile on her lips.

"Well, I guess I can take you on a romantic date today then?" I say, seeing her face light up.

Lucy's POV

I arrive at my mom's house. She's sitting outside on her porch reading a book.

"Hi mom!" I call, smiling while getting out of the car.
"Hello love, where's David?" She says with a worried look on her face.

I sit down next to her and place a hand on her leg.

Well he didn't come home lastnight, he had to work late. He usually stays Mike's house when he finishes late so he doesnt disturbe me... I left him a couple measages though"

Mom just looks at me, smiles then gestures for me to come inside.

"Would you like a cup of tea?" She asks.

"Oh I would love one thanks"

"Sure honey, so how are things with you and David?" My mom asks, waiting patiently for my answer.

"We're great! It was our 7th anniversary on Friday and he took me out on a romantic dinner"

"Well, congratulations on your 7th anniversary, other than that, is there anything exciting going on your life?"

"Well, yeah I'm co-producing with Jerry. A film called The Revival and I also have other exciting news but I wanted David to be here too.." I sigh.

"It's fine darling, you can tell him later, what's the exciting news?"

"I'm pregnant, I mean I think I am.." I say unsure.

Her eyes glimmer with joy.

"What do you mean you "think" you are?" She asks, confused.

"I've only had one pregnancy test and sometimes they're wrong the first time. Plus we've been trying for a while now and I don't really want to get my hopes up."

"Nonsense, you are most likely pregnant so those hopes can go and shoot through the roof! If you want to be sure we can go and get another pregnacy test?" A questioning look upon her face.

"I think we should"

"Okay then, lets go"

We arrive back at my moms house with the prgnancy test.

"Okay darling go into the bathroom and do your thing, I'm just going to do the washing okay?"

"Sure thing mom. Fingers crossed"

I walk into the bathroom,  pull the pregnancy test out of the box and do my business. About 1-2 minutes later the pregnancy test displayed the answer.

I walk out of the bathroom and see my mum stacking the towels back into the cupboard.

I walked over to her and let out a little squeal.

"What's wrong? "

"Oh, nothing!" I repliy "I am pregnant!"

"Oh my goodness honey! See? Didn't I tell you? Isn't that just wonderful news?" My mom says with a proud look on her face.

"Yes, yes it is! I can't wait to tell David!"
