I wasn't enough.

Chapter 6

Lucy's POV

I can't believe how happy David was when I told him that I was pregnant.

I expected him to be a bit shocked at first and then ease into the thought of us being parents but he loved it.

I'm so glad I have him as my husband, he's so caring and understanding.

I arrive home after and head inside to put on some running clothes. I've realised just because I'm pregnant, doesn't mean I should stop exercising.

I get home feeling refreshed and a bit sweaty so I jump in the shower and let the flowing liquid rush down my skin.

I put some comfortable clothes on, sit in the swing chair on our porch and start reading a book.

It is very lovely out here. The sun is shining, the birds are chirping and there is a soft warm breeze. I should sit out here more often.

Just as that thought crossed my mind my cellphone starts ringing.

*Unknown caller*

I stare at my phone in confusion wondering who it is.

I answer.

"H-Hello?"

"Hello, is this Lucy?" The voice on the other side of the phone asks.

"Um, yes and may I ask who this is? I'm sorry but it came up as unknown caller?"

"Oh my gosh! This is you. You sound exactly the same! Luce, its Amber!"

"Ambs? How the heck are ya? I haven't heard from you in 3 years! I miss you" I say in excitement and shock.

"I've been great how about you? How are things going with you and David?" She replies curiously.

"We've been amazing and I've been great! So what brings you to calling me?" I ask with a questioning tone.

"What? I can't call my best friend without a reason?" Amber replies sarcastically.

"I just wanted to tell you I'll be moving to Washington, Seattle as of tomorrow"

"No way... Really? You realize I live in Seattle right?" A childish smile dances on my lips.

"Uhh, of course I did why would I be calling you for? You do know we are friends on Facebook..." she answers.

"I know that.. that's great! I can't wait until you're here, do you need any help moving in?" I ask.

"Oh no... I have movers, my husband and children for that" she laughs.

"How old are your kids and what age are they? I don't think you've mentioned them much on Facebook"

"I have two. A boy and a girl, James is 12 and Christie is 8" she explains happily.

"That's great. Hey when you're settled in do you want to come over for a visit?"

"Yeah I would love to, do I have to bring my kids or is it a friend date?" She asks

"It's a friend date" I reply with a small giggle.

"Yay, should I come around lunch time?"

"Yeah that would be great" I say with an enlightened tone.

"Great see you on Wednesday?" Amber questions.

"Yup see you then, bye Ambs"

"Bye Luce".

After Ive finished talking to Amber I notice that it's 6pm.

I decide it's time to head back inside.
