Ugh. Monday mornings suck, I thought to myself. Not only do I look horrible but feel horrible. I have two tests today and what did I do over the weekend to prepare? Absolutely nothing.

"Hey, Em." Stacy says breaking my chain of thoughts.

"Hey." I simply respond fiddling with my locker combination.

We just recently got out of an argument and wasn't really feeling the best friend mood. Especially since it was over a simple hangout, with Derek! He just offered to hangout, as friends, so I said yes. Apparently him and Stacy are not very good friends.

"Did you study for the geography test?" Stacy asked fluttering her eyelashes.

"Nope." I flatly said.

"Oh, well." She sighed. "I'll see you in class she added." As she slowly backed away from my locker.

As she backs away she bumps into someone. Of course, always clumsy Stacy.

"So sorry." I heard her say.

"Don't worry about it." The anonymous victim responded.

I turned to see who it was, as I did so I heard Peter calling me.

Who is that? That gorgeous being?

I could definitely tell he was new. He had the perfect shade of brunette hair paired with green eyes. His body physique was strong and broad but not too much.

"Um hello?" Peter snapped at me.

Ugh. As much as I love Peter sometimes he just ruins my moments. He's been my best friend ever since grade 2 yet he doesn't know whenever I don't respond it means I don't want to talk.

"Oh your checking out Kai?" Peter asked.

"Who?" I turned to him grabbing my binders along with my textbooks.

"The guy that just bumped into Stacy. He's new, his names Kai." Peter said with a smile.

"And you know this how?" I question as I closed my locker and diverted my full attention to him.

"He asked me this morning about where Mr. B's geography class is." Peter said nudging me in the shoulder.

My class. My class! He was in my class! I get to see him! Calm down Emily. No crushes it's only the first 2 weeks of school.

"Alright, I'll see you at lunch. Just finish all your day dreaming sessions before that please." Peter smiled as he walked off.

I gave him a slight chuckle.

I stood staring at my locker thinking of Kai. As much as he seemed new, a part of me remembered him. From where though?

*DING DING*

Oh my god! I was too busy thinking I forgot about class. Now I have to rush up to the second floor.

I jumped up every step as fast as my feet could carry me.

As I began to fast walk down the second floor hallway I could see my geography class door still open. Good. You're not very late. I decided to slow down. I didn't want to come to class all sweaty during the morning. I began to walk my usual pace as I heard a door close. I looked up and of course! It's my geography class's door! Thanks Mr. B!

I decided to just continue my regular pace until I reached my class.

As I grabbed the doorknob of my geography class's door I braced myself to face the test and the people in my class.

"Ms. Cooper, late again. Have a seat please." He instructed as he handed me my geography test paper. I scanned the classroom for an empty desk to sit at. I had two options; the desk in front of Stacy or the desk behind Kai. I slowly made my way over to the desk behind Kai acting as if I didn't notice the empty desk in front of Stacy.

As I stared down at my geography paper I decided to skip over the first three questions, they seemed difficult. As I continued reading through the questions I realized that all of them were difficult, considering I did not study. Only two weeks into eleventh grade and I'm already beginning to slack off.

I began to rub at my temples as I looked up. My view was of Kai's head. I was able to view the little blonde streaks within his brunette hair, that I earlier had not noticed. I also realized the structure of his shoulders was a lot more square close up. Probably plays football? I guessed to myself.

"Ms. Copper, is everything alright?" Mr. B questioned as he snapped me out of my daze.

"Yeah." I slowly nodded.

Focus Emily.

An hour later I decided to give up and just fill in the geography questions with random answers.

Half an hour later I heard the beautiful sound of the bell that dismissed me to my next class, art.

I hurriedly handed in my paper and grabbed my binders and textbooks and headed out the door.

I continued the rest of the day with very little enthusiasm, all I could think about was going home, and Kai.

As last period approached, I sighed as I walked into my history class.

"Yeah I know what you mean, sometimes history can be boring." An anonymous voice said from behind me.

I spun on my heels to see who it was. To my surprise it was Kai.

"Yep." I simply responded.

Finally, the bell rang one last time and I gathered all my items to go home. I met Peter and Stacy by the cafeteria doors (where we always meet) to walk home.

On the walk home they all discussed their day and complained about the amount of homework and tests that they had to do. I remained quite recapping the day in my head.

As we reached the third intersection (where we each split and go home) we all gave each other a hug and smiled. I continued straight as Peter went left and Stacy went right.

Five minutes later I was at my front porch fiddling for my keys in my bag. After what seemed like forever I was able to retrieve them and walk into the smell of cookies.

My mom loved to bake. I personally love her hobby because it made our house smell good and I get baked goods everyday, so why not?

I went over to my mother and gave her a smile as I walked up our spiralling staircase. I walked into my room tossing my bag onto the ground, quickly changing into comfortable clothing. Then, I jumped down two stairs at a time till I reached the bottom.

I grabbed myself a cookie and flopped down onto the couch exhausted.

"Honey, I need to go pick up your brother. Watch the other batch of cookies alright? Love you." My mother said as she gently kissed my cheek and headed out the door.

She had to pick up my younger brother Colton. He was thirteen but refused to walk home.

I kept peeking over at the cookies every now and then while going through my phone.

"Yeah sure." I heard a muffled voice from downstairs.

I dismissed it as probably a new renter.

Our house was very big that we were able to rent our basement and still have plenty of space! I never met the renters though.

Although, the muffled voice seemed familiar.

I suddenly was awoken by the sound of the smoke alarm. The cookies had burnt! I quickly ran to grab them out of the oven. Someone also helped me by opening the windows.

Assuming it was my dad, I announced "Thanks dad." As I turned to hug him, I was shocked to see who it really was.

Kai.

Kai?

Kai!

"Kai?" I questioned.

"Sorry, I was downstairs and I heard the alarm go off, I was just making sure everything is fine." He smiled.

His perfect teeth shined.

"Oh, that's fine." I awkwardly responded.

"Well, alright. I'm going to head back down. Careful next time you make cookies." He said with a grin as he took off downstairs.

He left me smiling like an idiot at the batch of burnt cookies.
