My alarm went off at exactly 7:48AM. I’ve always hated waking up early so I tried to consume every minute of sleep I could. I dragged my sleepy body to the bathroom then my closet. I threw on a blue sweater with regular jeans. Next, I brushed my messy ash blonde hair. First braiding it then realizing it looked horrible, so I made it a ponytail.

“Emily! Breakfast is ready!” I heard my mom call from downstairs.

“Coming!” I called back.

Before I left my room I spritzed some perfume on and applied a thin coat of mascara along with lipgloss.

I headed down the stairs, only my fuzzy slippers keeping me from going back to sleep. I dragged my feet across the wood floor of my living room and onto my kitchen tiles.

“There you are, thought you slept in.” My mom said as she half hugged me, half handed me my breakfast.

She was dressed in a formal outfit indicating she must have a business meeting.

I seated myself in a my regular position at the breakfast table. I began to eat my waffles and check my phone. I read several text messages;

Stacy

Text me as soon as you wake up!

Peter

Did Stacy tell you?

I stared at the messages, confusion plastering my face.

“Wow, would you look at that” Colton pointed at my phone screen. “Emily actually has friends.” He chuckled.

“Shutup Colton.” I smirked at him.

“Whatever.” He retaliated as he left with my mom for school.

I remained having my breakfast and browsing online until exactly 8:19AM.

My school begins at 8:25AM and I need approximately 5 minutes to walk. Therefore, I leave at 8:19AM.

How much weirder can I be?

I dismissed the thought as I walked through my front lawn, the cold autumn breeze blowing harshly at my face. My eyes began to water due to the extreme wind condition.

“Emotional about autumn?” A voice says from my right.

I turn, to find no one.

Am I imagining voices now?

“Right here.” The voice says again, this time from my left.

I turned as fast as I could this time nearly hitting my head against the mysterious person’s on my left.
