Chapter 5

“Acacia? Oh dear, here have this. It will help with the hangover.” Granny said in a hushed voice as she scurried into my room.

I groaned as I sat up and granny handed me a glass of water and Tylenol. I quickly put a pill in my mouth and washed it down with water.

“Sweetpea, there is something I’ve got to tell you and it will hurt more than anything but just know, it does get better I promise.” She looked at me with tears in her eyes.

My heartbeat increased by about 100% and my stomach tied itself in knots.

“Granny? What is it?” I asked cautiously, my voice shaking slightly.

“Honey it’s Hunter. I’m so sorry.” She crushed me and a hug as her shoulder shook with sobs.

“W-what do you mean? What happened to Hunter?!” I asked frantically.

“H-he got in a car c-crash last night. They couldn’t s-save him.” She sobbed.

“You’re lying! He isn’t dead this is all just some prank!” I screeched, jumping up and running to the door, my hangover miraculously curing itself.

I ran down the stairs, not even slowing as I stumble. I grabbed the house phone and shakily dialled Hunters’ number.

The phone rang out a few times before it went to message bank. ‘Hello, you have called Hunter Wolfe, leave your name and I will call you back if I actually give a shit. Later.’

My lips twitched slightly at the voice mail.

BEEEEPPPPP

“Hunter call me back right away please. I don’t give a shit if you’re mad you need to call me. I need to hear your voice.”

By the time I finished speaking I had almost collapsed on the ground, my shoulders shaking violently while barely any noise leaves me.

My phone rang. I ran to pick it up, not even bothering to check the caller ID.

“Hunter?” I questioned.

“No Acacia, it’s Hunters father. I thought you would have been told what happened to Hunter.” His voice shook when he said Hunters’ name.

“I h-heard. I j-just can’t believe that h-he would leave u-us all h-here without a g-goodbye.” I sobbed harder.

“I know it hurts Acacia and I know it’s hard to even functions right now but Lilly really needs you.” Mr. Wolfe told me.
