“Are you crazy?” Hunter asked me, anger clear in his eyes.
“What do you mean Hunt?” I placed a hand on his arm.
He swatted my hand off, taking a step away from me like I was a bomb, seconds away from exploding. “Is that why you did this? Is it because I said I like someone when they sung to me? Is it because you can’t stand having anyone else getting my attention?! You’re really selfish, you know!” He shouted in my face.
Unshed tears started to blur my vision. “No, Hunt plea-“
“That’s Hunter to you.” He growled at me.
Not bothering to hide the tears anymore, I ran into the woods lining our school grounds.
HUNTERS POV*
I ran a hand through my hair. I know I shouldn’t have gone off at her that way but I had something special when the hooded girl sang to me and now I don’t.
Did she do it out of jealousy?
What does she have to be jealous of? It’s not like I am ditching her for the hooded girl.
I decided to take a walk through the woods to clear my head.
-
About half an hour into the woods I heard sobbing. I rounded the corner of the path, only to see Acacia leaning against a stump bawling her eyes out.
“Acacia, go home. It’s not safe here.” I told her.
She didn’t even look up at me as she ran off.
I felt a pang in my heart, seeing her upset makes me upset. It’s just in my nature to protect my friends.
After a while I fell asleep.
-
I woke up when my phone vibrated in my back pocket. I pulled it out to read the text I got.
Bye Hunt. I won’t forget the fun times we had. – Acacia
What does she mean Bye?
I ran to her house to ask where she was.
I rang the doorbell and a minute later the door swung open, Acacia’s mom in the doorway.
“Hunter? What are you doing here? I though Acacia was with you? That’s what she texted me anyway.” She told me.
“Sorry Mrs. Black, Acacia isn’t with me and I’m worried about her.” I blurted out in a panic.
