The forest hissed awake
as the last rays of light dipped out of sight
The trees filled with a thousand fireflies
And the sky swept a dazzle of stars across its chestA light breeze tickled the dirt
And carried the smell of fresh rain and musty bark
The beetles marched along the mushy earth
Carrying the tune of the moonAn eerie light crawled along the logs
illuminating the sea of moss
Huddled for warmth, the day critters escaped into hiding
While the night buzzed to lifeA sleepy hush fell over the woods
As a fawn stepped into the milky bright
Her coat shivered off droplets of dew
As she pranced off into the night
