The gap between us
A gouge rippling across the universe, cuts a jagged line across my rosy pink heart
I can see you faintly, but when I reach out to touch
My fingertips are met with smoke
A whisper of our memories
You stare back at me, your soul smudged
A red stain of slithering pain
The urge to help you, to wrap you in my arms
Overwhelms me like the ocean rolling over the earth
The sadness deepens in my eyes, until they fade into to the rising darkness
I can feel you grasp out helplessly
But I'm too far under, gasping and chocking on the pain
I scratch at my liquid skin, tearing at my chest
