By the time Marie, Pearl and Marina had taught the remaining how to use their weapons and do basic things a squid should know, they discovered that Fyrus and Daniel could not become squid or octopi. Marina found it fascinating. Marie finally led them out of that area and found a second area where Vian and Callie were. At that moment, Callie was aiming a charger at his head, but he was just frantically changing color to figure out which one she had chosen. He settled on green and covered his head, just as Marie cut in, "Callie, if you shoot him I will throw you off a building."
"I think it's worth it if I can take him on that mission." She let go of the trigger as Vian rolled to the side and jumped at her, both of them rolling over before stopping with Vian's dualies pointed at her. It looked like he had stolen them from her earlier.
"Settle down!" Marie ordered. She gestured to the map on the table, which was surrounded by small couches. Once everyone was seated, she pointed to certain points. "Here's the matchup: Octoboy and GG... Gaming... I'm going with GG, you two need to serve as temporary distractions out front here. Sorry, but we need you. Etce, Fyrus and... Failboat... you will be here, making sure Octo and GG don't get splatted. Jaymoji and Viantastic will go around here to sneak in an destroy this." She stopped for a second. "Any questions?"
"Why are we distractions?"
"Veemo!"
"How come I have to go inside?"
"Where will you all be?"
"We will be on a mission of our own and we'll pick you up after. The rest of your questions were stupid. Get in Marina's helicopter." Marie stood and followed Off the Hook to their vehicle.
They arrived and found the place looking empty. Marina left near immediately. The group just stood there until Octoboy pushed through and waved GG to follow with a "Voo-MAY!" Octoboy had a Sploosh-o-matic and GG had a Splattershot Jr.. Fyrus(Heavy Splatling), Daniel(Tentabrella) and Etce(Charger) headed up to where Marie had told them to go. Meanwhile, Vian with his dualies and Jay with his roller, the remaining two made their way around.
Jay led the way through the purple ink, the pair becoming squids(or octopi) to swim through. They stopped at a massive, multicolored thing that took up a lot of the room. "What is that?" Jay asked, looking closer at it.
"It looks like... ink?" Vian suggested.
"Yeah... neither of us are silver or pink. We should run for it as soon as it's down." Jay backed up with his roller. Vian stood beside him and began firing while Jay used vertical swings to hit it. It exploded and they swam backwards, just out of the explosion's range. After a moment, Jay stated, "I didn't think it would be that easy."
"Yeah. Let's see how everyone's doing."
They went around the side again to see GG flailing his silver hand while Fyrus and Etce watched. Daniel was trying to cover the new ink, but Octoboy shouted at Jay and Vian, "Wha-si-wih-ou!"
"Uh... Sorry?" Jay offered.
"It's okay-ow!" GG was trying really hard to that ink off. "It feels like a bunch of pins and needles!" A second later, it vanished.
"Woomy." Octoboy said with a tilt of his head, even though no one understood it at all.
Fyrus unenthusiastically brought up that "Wow, the helicopter's back. We can leave now." Sure enough, Marie was stepping out.
"You may have found that one easy. That was a test mission for you."
Daniel looked shocked, "How did Gab get hurt, then? Who was shooting at us?"
Callie rolled her eyes, "It was still a bomb. And we were using sprinklers."
"...Oh."
"C'mon in!" Pearl invited, which they accepted. It was silent on the way back, but GG kept looking at his hand nervously. They arrived back and Marie showed them to areas they could stay. Moments before, though, she announced, "The reason you are here now rather than later is because the last group vanished. Tomorrow you will be out all day performing missions, so if you see them make sure to notify us." She then walked off without another word.
They went out on another mission early the next day, and Marina had told them that they'd probably be out all day doing missions. However, when they split up this time they were really far from each other. Jay peeked over the top of one of the many obstacles in their way and surveyed the area. He just ducked back down and looked at Vian, "There's a bunch of crazy guards flying around."
Vian turned purple and nodded, "Lead the way."
Jay swam through the obstacles with Vian following until they came to the entrance. They peeked in and saw a bomb-ish thing like the one they destroyed in their little training thing. The difference was that this one had to be bigger and there were inklings with the Order helmets standing at its sides. The pair looked at each other before Jay stepped into the open. The inklings looked at him for a moment, but returned to their original poses afterwards. Vian stepped up beside Jay and they looked at the bomb. The ink inside was green, purple and silver. Vian glanced at inklings and gestured towards one with a dualie. Jay put his roller on his shoulder and nodded. They each turned and attacked the inkling on their respective side, barely getting a response from them before they were splatted. They then fired at the bomb and swam away when it exploded. Then the pair walked around to meet up with the others.
GG and Octoboy were still fighting some of these crazy inklings, so Jay came up behind them and splatted them. Then the group was sent on another mission. However, this time they would be without Vian since Callie insisted that she 'needed him'. So, they did what they usually did, but Jay went around the back alone. The strange part here was that no inklings or octolings were present. Not even in the front.
"Should we help Jay instead?" GG asked.
Timo responded, "Woomy."
Fyrus was quick to lead the group around the building and into the room. Oddly enough, Jay was nowhere to be seen. His roller was even just sat there in the ink. "Wait, what?" Etce wondered out loud.
"He has to be here somewhere." Fyrus decided, looking around. Even with closer inspection, though, it was clear that all that was left of him was a roller lying still in the ink. Fyrus was still just staring at it when the helicopter made it back.
Daniel questioned Callie and Marie instantly, "Jay vanished! Where did he go?"
"Oh no." Was Marie's response, rather than an answer to the question.
"No what? What's going on?" Vian asked, jumping out of the helicopter.
Pearl looked to Marina, who nodded. "Get in. 'Rina will explain on the way back."
And so she did. "I am sorry, all of you. Jay has vanished in the same way most have. We don't know what happens to them, but we usually never see them again. Marie thinks they're somehow brainwashed, but I don't think it's remotely possible. He may be lost, and I apologize for that. We should have told you earlier."
Even Octoboy had a clear face of disbelief. Etce asked, "Never? We're never going to see Jay again?"
"Why didn't you say that?" Fyrus demanded, stepping forward a little. "He would have never gone on his own if we'd known that! Why did you let this happen?" Marina backed up, finding that Fyrus was standing up in her face.
"Chill out." Marie told him. "We plan on getting them all back, wherever they are. So if you don't mind, I would like to take them down effectively and quickly." Fyrus backed down, but only so he could follow GG and sit against the wall.
Marina looked at Pearl, who reassured her, "They're going to make it. It's going to be okay."
