"What a lovely morning!" Was Dan's greeting when he swung open the door. "What could you want more than some breakfast and sleep?" When Fyrus and Jay just stared at him, he commented, "Tough crowd. How are you? You good? Do I need to get Vian?"
"No?" Fyrus answered, questioning how many of those questions it answered.
"Good, I didn't want to talk to Vian! He and Gab have been very moody... Oh, what am I saying? That applies to everyone!" Dan grinned, then looked out of the door. "Strange, annoying group, I must say."
Jay looked to him in confusion, "So why are you still here?"
"Oh, they could kill me in a heartbeat! I don't want to be in your position."
"...Hit him." Fyrus directed nonchalantly. Jay silently did just that, hitting Dan in the head with an explosher's metal exterior before Dan could react. He fell on the ground, unconscious, before any argument was made.
"I hate how easy that was."
"Let's just leave?"
"Taking him with us."
"Wouldn't he just slow us down?"
"I don't want to fight him later! Besides, he might actually be on our side now."
"... Alright."
"Yeah, you're carrying him, though. You two are heavier, human and all."
"Did you just call me fat?"
"Who's to say?" Jay didn't wait for an offended response when leading the way out the door. Down the hall in both directions was nothing, but the area seemed a little familiar from their stroll before he was overpowered completely.
Fyrus appeared next to him, closing the door. "That way. They won't be there and there's a back door." He started off in that direction, having faith that his octoling friend could use ink to catch up.
Or pull ahead, apparently. "What, do you want them to catch you? Hurry up!" Jay held open the door for Fyrus and led him to a drop off the side. Maybe a second or two later, Timo padded by silently and walked into the building. Jay then grabbed Fyrus' arm and turned him around to point at where drop led. It wasn't that far, but it was a collection of platforms with pillars connecting them (along with the one they stood on) and various blocks and grates. Fyrus jumped down with no hesitation, confusing and concerning Jay a bit before he jumped down after him. Fyrus led the way down a few levels before he found a collection of blocks and set Dan down against one.
"What do you say to here?"
"Until when?" Jay asked, jumping up to sit on a block with his legs hanging down. "Until we get them all back or until we find Sagaci?"
"Until Daniel makes us move, I guess?"
"Sounds good. Should we sit it out until he's back or...?"
"Probably. It's getting dark anyways."
Fyrus jumped up to sit next to Jay, the silence drawing more attention to their surroundings darkening.
"You know what? I'm glad that out of all the maniacs Gab could knock out, he got my best friend."
"Wow, okay."
"In the nicest way possible!"
"Oh, yeah, 'I'm glad you got hit in the face, Fyrus! It really accomplished what I was going for!'"
"No, I-Okay, you're right. I totally would've done it if Gab didn't."
"What? Why?"
"Because I'd want you back rather than anyone else."
"You can get outta here with your octoling—"
"I try to be nice and this is what happens!"
"You were being nice?"
"You got a problem?"
"Yeah, always!"
"What? I didn't mean that literally! You have nothing wrong with you, you're practically perfect!"
"Says you!"
"What did this conversation devolve to?"
"...A war."
"It devolved to a war? Seriously?"
"Stop taking offense! You could easily survive a war!"
"Don't compliment me when I'm making fun of you!"
"'Don't compliment me when I'm making fun of you'."
"Done yet?"
"'Done yet'."
"I'm going to smack you."
"You want to fight?"
Eventually, somehow, they ended up asleep. The thing to wake them up was Daniel yelling at them.
"HEY! What happened?" Dan was commenting on how they got him back, but the pair realized they had fallen asleep leaning on each other and quickly sat up.
"I hit you with an explosher." Jay stayed before anyone could touch on anything that just happened.
"That wasn't what I was asking, but thanks for telling me how I might have a serious head problem."
"You've always had a serious head problem." Fyrus informed him.
"I feel so loved and appreciated!"
"Good luck with that." Fyrus changed the subject, "We don't have a lot of time. Now that there's only four of them, they're going to try harder to find us, not to mention finding Sagaci. We have to make a move now or soon."
"So... we're protecting Sagaci? She seemed perfectly capable of running away on her own."
"Hey, we don't know what Vian's capable of to make him the 'leader' of your ragtag group, much less Vian. If they went after Sagaci we have no way of telling if she could run." Jay decided.
Fyrus rolled his eyes, "What made him the 'leader' was that he had no problem having way too high of expectations for Gab and threatening the rest of us when we'd poke fun at him. He almost impaled me for saying Gab hadn't done anything!"
"Oh-h yeah, those two are practically inseparable." Dan reminded them with a grin. "Something went on there, I'm curious as to what."
"We might need to figure out to go home." Fyrus jumped off the block.
Jay looked down at the two of them, "Yeah... Any suggestions?"
"No." Fyrus and Dan responded in unison.
Fyrus sighed, then turned to look at the looming building that was platforms above them, drawing Jay and Dan's attention to it as well. Jay then suggested, "We should pick them off one at a time and leave it off with Vian."
"Let's do it!" Dan agreed. Let the journey truly begin...
