"How can two people be so inseparable all the time?" Etce questioned while Timo continuously hit his head against another block, as if trying to knock any ideas out of it.
Sagaci rolled her eyes, "You two have been doing this for twenty minutes! Shut up!"
It was the middle of the day, but they were sitting around to maybe gather energy for their plan that night. They were going to try to track the pair down, then distract Vian while scaring Gab in a different direction. Timo and Etce were convinced it wouldn't work, precisely why they were behaving in such a... tireless way.
Fyrus huffed, then turned to Jay, who sat beside him. "Are you okay?"
"How many times are you going to ask me that?"
"Until you give me a good answer."
"I'm fine."
"You just fought two times in a row was outnumbered one of those times. I really don't think so, no."
"You have so much faith in me."
"Eh... You're an idiot."
"I know!"
"Hey-"
"Don't argue with your own words, too late to take it back!"
"I wasn't going to, I know you're always right."
"Am I?"
"No, of course not."
Dan jumped up to look over the side of the block next to them, "So, when's it gonna happen?"
"...What?" They asked, almost simultaneously.
"When will you two actually just... be together?"
The pair stared at him, both edging on a glare. Fyrus stood up when Jay sighed in annoyance, walking over Dan. "I don't know, Daniel..." He raised his claws, "What about you and Sagaci?" Dan jumped back just in time for Fyrus to attack the block, breaking it nearly in half.
"Hey! What's that supposed to mean?"
"It means you should stick to your own relationships." Fyrus turned and sat back down next to Jay.
Jay decided, "You should've hit him."
"You're always right."
...
"...promise?"
"Yes, always."
"Then you can count on me, too."
Fyrus peeked around the corner to see Vian and Gab in the centre of the room, Vian pacing while Gab stood nearby. No one knew what they were talking about, but it didn't seem to matter. Etce and Sagaci were on the ceiling looking down, Fyrus and Timo were at one entrance and Jay and Dan were at the other. So far, it was going well and they hadn't been seen. So far, that is.
"Can I? Can I really count on you?" Vian asked Gab, almost threateningly.
"...What is that supposed to mean?"
"Are you sure that you'll be able to live up to your promise, despite how many times I've already lived up to yours? If not, why are you still here? Why haven't you joined everyone else?"
"...I don't know? This is the side I'll always stand on, I swear."
"How sure are you?"
"Sure enough to know I'll keep this promise." That caused Vian to stop and look at Gab.
Before Vian could respond, pink and blue tendrils came to slam into the ground around them. Neither of the infected wasted a second to reach out to each other, Vian throwing Gab out of the space before the tendrils completely trapped him. It didn't bother him, apparently, seen as five large spikes tore through the trap and made him an exit. By the time the remaining four made it into the room, Gab and Vian were prepared to protect themselves with their backs in a corner. Realizing who was there, Vian turned to Gab and whispered something to him, which he nodded to in response.
All six opposing them formed a semicircle around them, any weapon they had raised and ready to strike. "Can we really hurt them like this?" Etce quietly asked Dan.
"Either way, they'll probably be thankful we did it in the end."
Vian let his hands sit at his sides, lowering his spikes. "Alright, you win." He had no crazy expression, no emotion visible besides a sour glare at the floor.
"Wait, seriously?" Sagaci questioned.
"So-nay..." Timo objected.
Etce nodded, "You're not the only one."
"Oh come on, there's no reason to doubt me." Vian looked up and gestured, "You outnumber us, six to two. What kind of chance do we stand?"
"A bajillion different ways to attack that we haven't thought of yet?" Sagaci suggested while crossing her arms.
"Well... I guess that's one thing."
Jay looked at Fyrus and quietly asked, "Are you believing any of this?"
"No, obviously not. You'd have to be the greatest moron on the planet to accept it," Fyrus raised his claws a bit higher, and Jay followed by lifting a newly formed roller.
It caught Vian's attention and he looked down at them, almost smiling. He turned to step towards Sagaci, then stated, "I would've thought they'd dump you off earlier, all things considered."
"What's that supposed to mean?" Fyrus questioned.
"What is an opinion supposed to mean?" Vian paused for a moment before continuing, "The rest of us had to fight each other to end up normal. What's so special about you?" He stepped forward again and spike rose to point in Sagaci's face. "It'll only happen again," Another step forward, "And again," She only narrowed her eyes while the spike moved forward, "And again."
Sagaci took the spike from the air and turned to throw it back at Vian. Vian stopped it without touching it. He backed up to where Gab had been, bringing their attention back. They were so focused on Vian that they didn't notice Gab slip around them and out of the area.
"I'd say I didn't mean it, you know," Vian turned back and crossed his arms behind his back, "But there's a problem with that. I did, and so did he."
"Who?" Etce asked.
"Me, without this infection. The Vian you know--he thinks the very same thing."
Sagaci huffed, "Well, you didn't phase me. Just a tip, if you want to fight us then just fight us."
"I already was." Vian insisted with a small smile. "Look behind you."
They spun around to see a thousand spikes pointed in their direction. Sagaci used her parasite to protect Dan, Etce did the same with Timo, but Fyrus and Jay's ink flew forward to make a wall to protect them.
"Don't let any of them hit you." Vian told them calmly.
Dan commented, "Yeah, because I wanted to get impaled!"
The spikes came together again, showing that their shattered pieces were part of one whole--another figure that appeared to look just like Vian. There was still no color to them, as long as the transparent green of them didn't count. The figure jumped at Etce, fighting off the parasite enough to hit the anime super villain in the chest. Etce stumbled back, but before it could hit him again Timo' parasite cut straight through it, shattering it once more. The pieces molded into large spikes that surrounded the group, making Vian tilt his head, "How are you going to get to me if you can't get past that? It's almost disappointing."
"Almost? What's the almost?" Etce asked.
"Well, it can't be completely disappointing if I get the satisfaction of eliminating you myself."
