"You remember the routines for tour, starts soon."
Joe and Dianne walked a few steps behind Zoe and Alfie, their fingers intertwined. The shore was coming in and out gently, the wind however quite violent, not that it bothered anyone, typical British weather.
Joe gave a slow nod. "Yeah, with a few practice runs it would be back at the level it was."
"Sounds about right."
Dianne sighed, feeling the wind push against them both gently. As much as she loved this time with her boyfriend, she was afraid it wouldn't last long.
Joe was in his first ever serious relationship, and had learnt a lot over the past few months. He became a better person through it, and took it all in his stride.
As much as she knew he loved her, and would do anything for her, she also knew it was still early days, and would he be ready for that level of commitment?
Was he ready? Would he back out? She didn't know, and slowly but surely throughout the day, it had began to float to the front of her mind.
"Di...are you okay?" He put his hands on her hips, drawing circles on them in the hope that she would relax, if only he knew.
Dianne realised she was gripping his hand tighter, immediately feeling guilty. Not only because she thought she'd hurt him in the process, but because she didn't know what to say.
"Yeah, sorry. Just um, got a lot on my mind." Joe took a moment to think.
"If you're sure, but please talk to me."
She sighed, she wasn't ready. Not at all. Not yet.
"It's just tiredness, I should be fine tomorrow."
"Ok, should...should we get going, I think they're half way back now." He chuckled, she mustered a small smile.
"Sounds great."
They started to walk again, Dianne trying to push away what was happening in her mind. She didn't even know if it were pregnancy, so she didn't want to startle him. But she knew she couldn't keep this from him either.
She was lost.
"Zoe, is Dianne Alright, she seemed a bit stressed today, I just thought you might know something." Alfie said quietly as they walked arm in arm. The other two were far behind, but sound-waves aren't exactly forgiving, especially in the open air outdoors.
It wasn't her secret to tell.
It just wasn't.
And it was also girl code.
"Yeah, she didn't sleep well, I'm sure she'll feel better tomorrow."
Alfie nodded, kissing the top of her head.
"Oh, I don't know how she couldn't sleep, those beds were like heaven!" Zoe laughed, leaning her head on his shoulder. Alfie always knew how to make her smile, no matter how much she was stressing or dwelling on what ifs.
"I know, but we all get it sometimes." Zoe sighed, feeling two hands on her back and a "got you!"
"Joseph! Di, I don't know how you do it."
Dianne grinned up at her man.
"Oh don't worry, it's a two way street."
"That's what she says." Joe muttered, feeling a gentle punch on the arm and he grinned. Dianne was truly, a perfect fit for him. He punched her back, the two bantering back and forward the entire walk back.

"Back at last." Alfie sighed, the four entering the house. Dianne swiftly made her way to the bathroom for the fourth time that day. Zoe, boiling the kettle, bit her lip.
Things were adding up more and more, and it was beginning to become more real. Alfie and Joe were outside already, admiring the wildlife. Zoe wished she too could enjoy the pretty picturesque outdoors, but right now she had bigger fish to fry.
She made the tea as normal, before Dianne came back out looking relieved, but at the same time anxious. Zoe went over to her, holding her arms out.
Dianne sighed into them, wondering what she had done to deserve such a good potential sister in law, and felt Zoe sigh too.
"That's four isn't it?"
"Erm." Dianne counted on her fingers. "Yeah, four. Why?"
Zoe had an idea. It was simple, and it gave them both time to calm down, and it helped them figure out if it was likely or not.
"Why don't we wait, it could still be a phase. But if it happens again today, we tell him. Give a day, keeps the doctor away...but you'll get a midwife instead." Zoe chuckled.
Zoe was able to make light of the situation, and so far it was working. If it happened again, Dianne would have to confess to Joe.
Was she ready? Was he ready?
The two women came outside, Zoe handing out the drinks. They all sat down and began a conversation, one that was lighthearted and Zoe made sure to keep the topics that way, for both hers and Dianne's sakes.
Soon enough, the two women were engrossed in their own discussion on fashion, the two men chuckling at their riveting conversation.
"Alfie? FIFA?"
"Sure, why not."
Joe and Alfie told the girls what they were doing, they nodded and went back to what they were doing.
"You ready for my comeback?" Alfie said, getting into the competitive spirit. Joe and Alfie weren't normally competitive, but when it came to FIFA, it was an entire different ball game.
Joe scoffed, taking his controller. "What comeback?"
"So Joe, earlier, I noticed Di wasn't exactly herself, did you catch that?" Alfie asked as the two kept their eyes on the screen. Joe nodded, getting the ball off him and passing it between his players with skills that were second to none.
"Yeah, she said she was just tired, why?"
"Oh that's what Zoe said, it's probably nothing." Alfie said, Joe nodded.
"Probably."
