Cerian .
Finally at home after a hectic day that ended quite nicely with dinner. It's hard to recall the last time, the four of us actually went out together just for dinner.Denver on the other hand had transformed into his usual self again, stoic and rigid. He got like that during dinner and I didn't bother asking him because I'm already used to it. We didn't even hold hands on the way back. We are such a nice couple aren't we?
"You never told me you knew Pittsburgh," Denver stated.
"Richard? Yeah ,we met a while ago at Dynasty." I spat the toothpaste foam in the sink, then looked at Denver's image in the mirror. He was seated up in bed, laptop on his lap. His face seemed to glow blue thanks to the light from his computer.
" Why didn't you ever tell me ?"
I turned to him and God,did I want to smack him in the face. Then just like a light switch,it clicked,Dean spewed up his obsession for Richie and put me in the spotlight by mentioning that I actually knew the blonde.
The idiot was jealous.
I felt a smug grin growing on my face but I quickly masked it with a scorn, "Do I have to tell you about everyone I know?"
"Well yeah,"
I scoffed, rinsed my brush and walked straight to bed. A loud yawn slithered out of my mouth as I reached over to my bedside lamp and switched it off.
"Great, then you can tell me about everyone you've been sleeping with. Zach for example," When I got nothing out of him,I let out a dark chuckle, " Nice, if you're not going to talk about your personal life then don't expect me to talk about mine,"
There were no comebacks,no argument and definitely no "goodnight I love you," from any of us. I heard Denver slam his laptop shut, switched off his light and lay on the bed.
Spiteful,I grabbed one of the pillows and placed on the space between us as some sort of boundary. His response was a low groan as he turned to face the other side. I did the same.
That night, I slept with a mischievous smile plastered on my face. Denver was jealous and that's all that mattered.
Corey's plan was a great idea.
The next couple weeks were stressful. I had a number of public appearances most of which were interviews to promote my yet to be released album. There were photoshoots after photoshoots lined up and everywhere I went,I had paparazzi hot on my tail.
All that brings me down to Denver and I. Hollywood saw us as the perfect gay couple so we had to act the part. We've done for years Nothing new there. Hold hands in public, flirt like teenagers, make out in front of the camera. We don't do that behind closed doors, back at home. Denver's stopped trying to make up eighth. Turns out I'm over it - still mad but I don't need his apology.
On the second week of August, I released the first single "Comatose," of my album "PAIN," On iHeart radio and forty eight hours after its release ,it was number one in the charts. Everyone including I, was surprised, considering that fact that I've been dormant for almost a year. I personally thanked my fans via Instagram.
Corey said I deserved it because I put in so much in the album. To celebrate my success,he decided to make dinner for me at his new apartment.
He declared his kitchen a no go zone and ordered me to stay in the living room. Sure, I could watch TV and maybe catch up on the news but my eyes found something more entertaining and interesting to look at, Corey's home decor. His walls were a warm cherry color. He had no couches ,instead there were large lemon green bean bag chairs. At the center was a small coffee table. What caught my eye the most was the lion cub painting on the wall perhaps it was because of the message written at the bottom.
You are the hope in my life
Kiran Sherwood
"You seem to have fallen in love with the cub," Corey spoke while walking into the room. On his hand,he carried two hot pots . I didn't know what it was,but it had a heavenly aroma.
"I love the cub,the painting itself and the message. Plus, the artist of course."
"Something smells good,what'd you make?"
Corey didn't answer,he just smiled and placed the tray on the coffee table with a warning not to take the lid off. "I'm going to get champagne and some cutlery,"
It took sheer strength and strong will on my part to not peek into the containers. Yes,I was hungry and I think the aroma just intensified my hunger and some woke the sleeping giant. My stomach started growling in demand for something to eat.
"Wow,you're finally here," I applauded when Corey came back , "I'm starving,"
"Won't be long " He placed the bottle and cutlery down then sat next to me. "Let's change your current hunger situation, shall we?" Corey passed me a plate and a fork then opened the hot pots....My eyes grew wide,I started salivating and the aroma...
"This is my specialty, Pilau masala and stir fry French beans," Corey said proudly while serving some if his specialty on my plate.
Hungry as a wolf and excited at the same time,I shoved a spoonful of pilau in my mouth. My eyes automatically shut as I slowly chewed the food. I've tested different foods all around the globe by some of the best chefs in the world but nothing could compare with Corey's. It was a mix of heaven and honey in my mouth.
When my eyes reopened,I found Corey's brown eyes on me. Although they had their usual warmness, they looked panicked. He looked panicked, I could tell with how hard he was chewing his bottom lip. He reminded me of those chefs in a TV show "GROCERY GAMES" How they'd get really nervous while the judges take a bite out of their food as they wait to be criticize or praised for their cooking skills.
"Wow,this is officially the best meal of my life,"
"Really? Is it too spicy? Is the salt okay? " Corey asked, still unconvinced by my earlier opinion.
"It's perfect, trust me. Have some so I don't feel bad for eating alone ,"
~
Minutes later after eating, Corey popped the champagne. I had helped him clear the table,so all that was left was the champagne and glasses. It was quite a relaxing moment because,it was quiet -well except for the little small talks -Wild Russia was playing mute on Nat Geo wild and what filled up the little void of silence was some soft music playing.Instead of focusing on Russia's vast wildlife and the beauty of it's landscapes. I found myself focusing on something more interesting and no it's not the number of bubbles in my champagne but rather something or someone really ,completely interesting.
His jaw could cut a diamond clean, his curly tuff of jet black hair seemed to glow under the dim lights of the room. I loved his brown skin and the tattoos that adorned it. I never really asked the reason behind the tattoos but I could tell that they held the keys to his closet of skeletons. This man Corey, was one hell of a jigsaw puzzle, hard to piece together. I knew him but I didn't and that's what's really fascinating about him.
"Green eyes," I was caught staring ,"Is it me or you just love staring at me," He teased and I felt my cheeks heat up to a bright cherub.
Caught with my hand in a cookie jar or in my case, dreamily staring at an attractive male. I would have done what a normal person would : Look away and play cool by saying something like, "Don't flatter yourself you're not that attractive, " The thing is,I'm not normal plus I think I had too much champagne because the next thing I did was totally uncalled for..
