“Well, thank you Collin. I’m honored to have spoken. Peggy was a very dear friend to me and a great part of Steve’s life. We’re very happy to have known her, and I’m very sorry for your loss.”
“Thank you. There will be hard times ahead, but we’ll be able to get through it somehow. If you’d excuse me, there are a few others who I need to speak with. Again, thank you for attending the funeral. It was nice talking to you, Ma’am.”
“It was nice speaking with you Collin. I hope you and your family stick together to get through this.” Collin nodded and smiled before taking Jacobs hand and walking away from the Sergeant. Jessie sighed and looked to the two scientists who were standing with her. Two days after the funeral, the Avengers met up on the Helicarrier to hear what Fury had to tell them. The team sat at the conference table in silence as Fury showed them video footage on the holo-screens.
“Some of our agents have collected footage from CCTV cameras in cities around America,” Nick stated. “Here’s footage collected from Chicago.” The video footage appeared on the table in front of each Avenger where they sat. Part of the city had mobs of people crowded around, protesting. Another part showed a small part of the city in ruins. Jessie paid close attention to the video of the protestors. She recognized two people, a male and female. She stopped the video to show their faces.
“I recognize these two,” Jessie stated pointing to the paused video. She had the paused video appear on the main screen. “I don’t know who they are, but I can recognize them a little. They’re with Hydra. They also happened to be the ones who took Steve and I in Moscow.” Steve took a close look at the image.
“She’s right,” he said after recognizing the two.
“Can we do a facial recognition scan to determine their identities?” Tony questioned.
“Afraid not,” Jessie replied after trying to search through the scan. “Either they don’t have a public identity or they aren’t a threat to S.H.I.E.L.D. yet.”
“Let’s hope they don’t become a threat anytime soon,” the Captain said. “I’m not really up to fighting anyone at the moment. Especially not after what happened at the funeral.”
“Capsicles right,” Tony began saying, “Snowflake will need some time to heal from the wound.”
“I have a question for you Bucky. When you worked for Hydra with Pierce as the leader, was it just Baron Von Stucker who was a ‘second-in-command’, or was there another possible leader?” Bucky stared at the table and opened his mouth to answer, but didn’t.
“I think it was just Pierce and Strucker,” he answered after a few seconds. “If there was another leader I would’ve been informed about it.”
“Cut off one head, two more shall take its place,” Jessie stated. “If it’s just Strucker right now, and Hydra doesn’t have another leader, then maybe we can get rid of him and Hydra will hopefully fall.”
“That would be a dream come true,” Steve said half serious and half jokingly.
“Well, then lets search for anymore possible leaders.”
