Bucky ~ Football

(High school AU)

You pulled your back pack on and walked out the classroom as soon as the bell rang. You had to get there fast, and go unnoticed. It usually wasn't that hard, going unnoticed. Blending in with the crowd. You just had to smile and pretend you liked everyone. You had to get to chemistry as quickly as possible so you could get a seat in the back.

Walking down the crowded hallway you tried to shove past everyone and get to the other end of the school. You tried to squeeze past everyone, but the hallways were slowly getting more and more crowded and students filed out of their classrooms.

A large group of boys were walking the opposite direction as you. The football team. Steve Rogers, the captain, was walking next to his best friend, James Buchanan Barnes. He didn't go by James, he went by Bucky and no one dared to call him anything other than that. Following them was Sam Wilson, who was another close friend of Steve's, and the rest of the team.

They were all jerks, obviously. What else would you expect from a group of teenage boys who also happen to be on the football team. Of course, you had never talked to them, but that's what you assumed they were. Or at least most of them. You were nobody at this school. And that was ok, because if you were nobody, you could get away with anything.

The boys were taking up most of the hallway, laughing and ignoring everyone else trying to get by. You weren't going to let them push you around though. You had to get through them even if it was going to cause some drama

You walked quickly with your head down, and tried shoving past one of the football boys.

"Wow Hey, why you in such a rush?" He stopped you, blocking your way and making you stop in the middle of the hallway

"Can You move?" You asked him. you May be a no body but you weren't going to be pushed around by anyone. He chuckled, and the rest of the group seemed to circle around you. They were all big, muscular guys who were at least a foot taller than you. You weren't getting out of this easily

"You want me to move baby? I'll move when I want to, and right now I don't wanna. Right now I want you to get on your knees and-"
You were about to punch him right in the face when The team captain stepped in

"Hey, whats going on here?" Steve asked and all the other boys laughed. All except Bucky and Sam. Bucky seemed to be watching you. You caught him staring and stuck out your tongue at him

"Nothing to worry about captain, me and my girl here we're just discussing some things" the guys said. He had ugly yellow teeth that made him look even worse when he smiled. You wanted to spit at his face

"I am not your girl" you said through gritted teeth.

"Everyone Just calm down ok? Come on, we gotta get to class" Steve said, turning to continue walking down the hallway.

"I'll see you around baby girl" the guy said with a wink, and that was the last straw for you. You lifted your knee and hit him right where the sun don't shine, causing him to fall to the ground in pain. People gathered around to see what happened

"Don't ever call me that again" you said, adjusting your back pack and turning to walk away. Great, now you were probably going to be late. And everyone was going to notice you. Walking into class aand everyone stares at you  as you go to sit at your desk, which is usually next to the weird kid because that's the seat no one wants. And then-

"Hey," someone Interrupted your train of thought and you turned around to see it was Bucky Barnes himself running towards you down the hallway.

"Listen I'm sorry about those guys, they're all jerks and I just wan to punch them in the face sometimes" he said once he caught up with you. You stared at him with a slightly shocked expression.

To be honest, you had caught yourself staring at him a few times. He was cute, and to find him talking to you was quite a surprise

"Um it's ok" you said, meeting his bright blue eyes.

"I'll make sure they don't bother you again. But after that kick you gave him, I don't think he'll be going anywhere near you." Bucky said with a smile, making you smile too.

"You should probably get to class or you're going to be late" you told him, turning the corner and keeping your head low

He shrugged, "Steve's got me covered." You got to your classroom and stood outside the door with Bucky for a moment. He had his hands inside his pockets and seemed like he wanted to tell you something

He cleared his throat, "Well there's uh- a Football game on Saturday and Well you should come see it. I'll save you the bast seats" he finally Asked, giving you a small smile. You looked down and then at him again, smiling a little too

"I'll be there." You said before entering the classroom and leaving the football boy with a dorky smile on his face as he ran to class before the bell rang.
