Don't forget to listen to the music I put in the banners for my committed readers! I add a "soundtrack" to my chapters to convey the emotions of the characters and the atmosphere of each part of the story. Hope you enjoy my editing and I hope you readers that have stuck with me read the changes.... I think it improves the feel of the book better.Live Long and Derp On!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~When I walked inside the tent, six sweaty boys were sitting on old cots. I gave a polite wave, and let Zig do the talking.
"Boys, this is Lisa. Lisa, these are the boys."
All but one of the boys jumped up from their cots to greet me.
"I'm Magnet. What a pleasure to meet you." He extended his hand, probably expecting me to lightly grab it and let him kiss mine. I grabbed it firmly, gave it a good shake, and leaned forward.
After patting his back, I retreated from the hearty grip and said, "Good to see ya, brotha!" The others stood in shock. I heard a soft giggle from the back of the tent. To my surprise, it was the quiet one, smiling rather brightly. I repeated the ritual with the rest of the boys.
"The name's Squid. Nice to meet you."
"My bro! Good to see you!"
"Hey Lisa! I'm Caveman."
"Nice to meet you!"
"Armpit. The name's Armpit."
"My man! Hey, remind me to give you something later."
"Okay."
"X-Ray, at your service."
"Cool name. Good to see ya!" They seemed to be understanding my (surprisingly) boyish nature. I wanted to properly meet the boy in the back, so I discreetly asked Zig to introduce us.
We walked to his cot on the other side the tent. I sat down by his legs.
"This is Zero. Wanna know why we call him that? Because there's nothing going on in his stupid little head!"
"That's not very kind of you, Zig. I'm sure he's smarter than you would think." Zero's gaze softened into a subtle smile. "Why don't you leave us alone?"
"We'll leave you two to 'talk' then. But don't expect much." He gestured to the boys to leave. They left quickly, but even more so their heads peeped through the doorway. I ignored it, though.
"Hey, Zero. I'm Lisa. They're not very nice to you here, are they?" I made sure to speak to him as an equal, because he probably was one.
"No, they're not." I heard gasps from outside the tent, followed by whispering. "I wish they could understand me."
"I understand you." I smiled, without showing my teeth.
"There's no way you could understand me. You've never been like me."
"I have been in a similar situation to this before. Besides, if I didn't understand you, would I have gotten you to talk to me?" More gasps from the guys. I noticed that there was a lanky man standing with them, his nose slathered with sunblock. He seemed more shocked than the rest of them. He must be waiting for us to end our conversation. Oh well.
"You're different than them. You're different than everyone."
"I think we're all different. We have our similarities, but everyone is unique. So, I respect everybody that I meet, and it gets me places." Our eyes locked, and my heart jumped. We smiled.
