"Wow, Ziggy... Hon, I'm flattered." I gave him a surprised looking friendly smile.
"I just don't want to get in between you and Zero. I know you love him." ZigZag looked down at the recently exposed, dry dirt guiltily, "Crazy how fast either one of the two of us can fall in love." He let out a laugh of pure breath, smiling at the foolishness of his own easy heart.
"Hey, you have an excuse!" I teased, "You haven't seen a girl close to your age since you got here! I've hung around guys all my life and never loved any one of them like that..." My eyes glazed over as I drifted into a nostalgic haze. Looking back on that moment now, I'm surprised I could fall so quickly for someone I had known for less than a week.
"You're the first person I've ever really had more than a little crush on. But obviously I am not too good with girls." He said sheepishly, kicking the edge of the hole in which we sat.
"Zig, you were pretty darn good to me when I had just gotten here, so don't go saying that..." I said, before placing my hand on his shoulder reassuringly, "To be honest, before I saw Zero, I thought I was going to end up being with you."
He seemed to be enlightened by my statement, as he relaxed immensely after hearing it. "You have no idea what that means to me."
"I'm sure you'll find someone you'll like even more than me once we get out of here."
"Really?!" He responded, shocked and in disbelief, "Do you really think that anyone would like me?"
"I'm sure of it." I pat his back and got up. "Even though you're an acquired taste, you're a catch!"
