Edna POV
Damn him. The guts of him to actually do something like this. How could he try to hurt me like this. I pushed him away before he could kiss me. I must have strong patience because I actually resisted the urge to let his face and my palm meet.
"Is this your plan?" I asked fuming.
"What do you mean?" He had a confused expression on his face. Oh please, he didn't really expect me to fall for that. He didn't think I was that stupid. Wait, he must really think I'm so stupid.
"I'm talking of your obviously sadistic plan to break me all over again."

"God no Ed, why would you think I'd do that?" He's even using an old nickname. Smart.
"Oh please Alexander Laurent, I'm sure you think I'm stupid but I'm not the dim-witted, needy fool you seem to think I am." I glared at him. The idiot actually thought he could hurt me by showing me a place we've been to together.

I turned back and walked away from him calling Peter along. Just one ride. That's all the time I had to spend with him. I'd not sleep in his room tonight, I couldn't dare. I'd just sleep with Peter tonight. I knew I was probably avoiding the inevitable but whatever. I didn't care anymore. As long as my heart is protected, I'd be the worst coward.

It didn't take too long for Alex to walk to the car. I buckled Peter in the seat and got in front. I stared out the window, not wanting to encourage any conversation with him. Even Peter was quiet as though he could sense the tension in the air. We didn't reach the house fast enough.

I got a few clothes out of Alex's room when we entered the house. It was a good thing that he was on the phone in his study. Peter had fallen asleep during the ride and although I wanted him to have his lunch, I wasn't going to wake him. I lay down beside Peter on his bed and watched him sleep. I didn't get why people would think it were creepy to do that. His really dark lashes brushed his cheeks and he had a small smile on his lips. I wondered what he was dreaming of now.

Alex POV.
It was almost a week since Edna and I had the fight. She'd stopped sleeping in my room and was sharing a room with her son. I couldn't even summon the courage to tell her that she's supposed to be sharing a room with me as stated in the contract. She avoided me like I was the plague and I don't blame her. Even I couldn't stop hating myself. I was intimate with her for such a long time and at the first sign if trouble, I turned my back on her, I didn't even want to hear her side. It was saturday and Edna was cleaning and doing laundry. Weeks ago, I'd have accused her of playing house, now I wish I had something to keep me busy. Things wouldn't be so hard then. I was about leaving the house for a much needed walk when Peter's toy car crashed on the wall in front of me. I picked it up and gave it to him his eyes catching my attention.

"How old are you Peter?" I asked before he could get distracted by his toy car.
"I am turning Four soon ." Four years? But that's how long it's been since... No... It couldn't be. Just coincidence. He started making car sounds and I knew I'd lost him already. It was really hard to talk to him once his attention was taken by something. He is always so focused it reminded me of myself.
I got out of the house and began my hike. I needed the fresh air. I wouldn't think about Peter today. It was just one of those coincidences that happened to everyone. It wasn't really that special.
