We stepped off the train, the three of us now in our uniform, and followed the shouting of a large bearded man, who lead us over to a cluster of four seater boats. We sat together and were joined by a short, dark haired boy called Crowley. After a while of just sitting there, listening to the rippling of the lake, we approached a huge castle, each window illuminated by the soft amber glow of fire light. I couldn't help but smile, I was home.
We're inside the castle and it's beautiful, McGonagall has just given a speech to us first years and now we're just staring at everything in awe. A few people were talking, but all of a sudden it was just two, and everyone was staring at them.
"Holy shit!" Castiel whispered to me, "That's Harry Potter." He was gesturing to one of the boys who were talking, he had messy black hair and dark skin, with bright emerald eyes and broken round glasses. I couldn't help but roll my eyes, of course the kids here would be drooling over him too, I tried my best to ignore him, but the other, a wealthy looking kid with blonde hair, porcelain skin, and cold grey eyes is talking very loudly trying to be his friend, but as soon as he saw the tall redhead beside him and started insulted him, Potter rejected him with a childish line that from the look on his face, i could tell he must have thought was quite impressive; I truly can't stand that Potter freak. Finally she had returned, and we all created a clumpy sort of line, with me, Charlie, and Castiel at the back end. The grand, wooden doors swung open, revealing the great hall. We walked in slowly, looking around in wonder. our feet echoed across the stone floor, but there was otherwise silence as every other kid in the hall watched on as we made our way to the rickety looking stool and the worn, faded hat. I felt Castiel jabbing at my arm, I sharply turned my head and he was pointing up at the ceiling, I looked up and suddenly felt very sick and disorientated, because the ceiling wasn't a ceiling at all but a swirling night sky reflecting perfectly the sky that we just sailed under not ten minutes earlier. I actually vaguely remember Sammy telling me about this a couple of nights ago when he was reading up on Hogwarts. The sorting finally came, Castiel was placed in ravenclaw, and Charlie and I got into Gryffindor. However, the biggest surprise was when Potter, after sitting talking to himself for a while got sorted into Gryffindor too! I still cant believe it, I was sure he'd be sorted a slytherin. Of course everyone was drooling over him, I just tried my best to ignore him and focus on the food, it was wonderful. Back home me and Sammy rarely had a full meal, John's always out and although I try my best, I'm no cook. I'm reminded of birthdays, when Bobby would take us out for a meal, it was never something overly special (at least not compared to this), but to us it meant the world.
We were led up to the dorms by a skinny, pompous looking fifth year. I, unsurprisingly, was placed in with Potter and four others -since the war had killed so many, there wasn't enough kids to fill up more dorms, so there one one boy and one girl dorm per house per year. I unpacked what few things I had into the chest, and put my hunting gear under my bed, aside from the knife I'd either have on my person, or underneath my pillow. I sat on the edge of my bed reading through a copy of John's journal that he'd made for me; it was a while before I realized that I'd stopped reading, my eyes had become unfocused and my hands were shaking uncontrollably. I looked up to find a short, plump kid standing over me, Neville, I think his name is, 'W-What?' I asked, noticing my voice was shaking too 'I said, are you okay? You're shaking.' he repeated 'Fine, just too much to eat,' I replied. It wasn't true, it hadn't hit me until now but I'm absolutely terrified. Everything's changed so quickly, Sam's all on his own now, and I'm worried of what might happen to him, but worst of all, everything I've ever been taught is useless to me. All my life, all I've ever known is hunting, all of these magical creatures I've known as monsters, and in the USA they are, they live only to serve themselves, they kill mercilessly an everyone of them needs to be stopped by any means necessary, I killed my first when I was six, but now... Now we've moved to England they're treated, not as equals, but as something with a conscience, with morals, not something that needs to be eliminated. I feel lost, like my whole world is crumbling around me, but I need to try my best to keep it together. Now that I'm at Hogwarts, I can get a real education and maybe get a good enough job that I can get Sammy out of that house and away from John.
