Mr.Wilde

Chapter 4

"Well my name is Valerie Redd, my best friend is Klarissa, art is my favorite subject that's why I'm in art 4, and I like Jeeps.." I sit down while the class politely claps. Mr.Wilde stares intensely at me.. I just look away and pretend not to notice. As Mr. Wilde picks another student to talk about them self I sit there and stare into space wondering why he was staring at me or if he wasn't really staring at me and just day dreaming like I am now.

"Okay class today I want you to just draw the first thing that comes to your mind and it'll be your first grade for this school year. Now class, you can use anything from paint to charcoal but it's due by the end of the class. Ready set art!" All the girls giggle at the end of his last sentence but it was stupid. I bring out my pencil and drawing pad and automatically start drawing a forest. I think of forest just because I really love trees. "Valerie, should I paint the night sky or do it in charcoal?" " hmm I think you should do it in charcoal it would look darker like the night". Klarissa says thanks and starts drawing her night sky. I set my pencil down and look around the class to see that Mr.Wilde is just strolling around the class checking on how everyone is doing with their art.

Mr.Wilde starts making his way towards me and Klarissa so I put my head down and start shading in my background. I feel a presence over my should and then I hear a whisper right next to my ear "that's very good Ms.Redd" I slightly jump in my seat because I wasn't expecting him to be that close to me. "Oh um thank you, Mr.Wilde." I reply back to him in a awkward voice that isn't mine. He smirks at me and motions his hands to carry on and then he walks away to the next group of students.

" What was that about,Val?" I look over at Klarissa and see her hands and some of her face covered in charcoal and I can't help but giggle. " what are you talking about?" " you know.. I saw you jump when he said good job? Why are you all of sudden jittery?" I roll my eyes and say in a nonchalant voice " I just wasn't expecting him that's all" "Mhhm or you liked his presence close to you" she does a little eyebrow wiggle after she states this I punch her slightly in the arm " shut up I'm just tired" she says whatever and gets back to finishing her night sky.

As the bell rings everyone turns in their assignment and starts to head out of the door. "Valerie can you stay behind a quick second" Klarissa and I give each other a confused look I give Klarissa the keys to my jeep and I'll meet up with her. I turn around to face Mr.Wilde " sir, did I do something wrong?" I walk towards his desk. "No, Ms. Redd but as I was walking around I noticed you are the best drawer in this class and I am looking for someone to help me after school and with students who need help with their drawings. If you say yes to this it'll be an all year thing and it'll look great on college applications." " so basically like an apprentice?" " yes you can call it that. Well I am just offering this to you and I'll let you sleep on it please let me know an answer by tomorrow after class" I just nod my head and say a swift goodbye and literally run outside to my jeep where Klarissa is already siting in and doing some awkward dance in the passenger seat. She is going to flip when I tell her.
