No opening credits roll. No music plays. The screen just comes to life in muted colors showing four people, two men and two women, walk into a control room of sorts. They nod to each other and take seats at a round table in the center of the room. A man with white hair pulls out a stack of folders. "Let us begin." His voice is cool as he eyes the people around him. "As of right now the number of Enhanced living amoung us is unknown."
"How is that possible?" A frail looking woman with glasses asks the white haired man.
"Of the origional test group those that did not show any effects were allowed to grow up with the rest of society. They have since had children that some how developed abilities."
A small man leans forward resting his elbows on the table. "So it's been left to us to clean up the governement's mess then is it?"
The white haired man nods to the small man. "It is." The small man leans back in his chair and watches as the two women pass worried glances across the table at each other. A moment passes in silence before the white haired man passes out a handful of folders to each of the ladies and the small man. "These are a few of the cases that need investigation."
"Potential enhanced?" The small man asks rifling through the topmost folder laid before him.
"Yes." Says the white haired man.
"How will we stay in contact while we are investigating?" The other woman asks her messy bun falling apart as she tilts her head to the white haired man.
"We will use normal phone lines, but we must use code when refering to each other." The white haired man says his voice deadly serious.
"Should be easy since we don't actually know each other's names." The small man says. The women nod in agreement.
"Alright then, lets pick the names we shall go by." The white haired man says.
"You first Whitey." The small man says his voice laced with sarcasm.
"Okay, I'll be Mr. White." Though his face is impassive his voice also contains a hint of venom for the small man. The rail thin woman looks down at her folders.
"I can be Berreta." The small man says looking smug. The other woman nods her approval.
"Very manly." She says.
"No, to conspicuous. How about Bert? That can be heard and looked over." The small man leans back in his chair his shoulders rigid.
"Yes, that makes sense." The thin woman says into the tense silence.
"My turn, I'll be..." The other woman starts to say but Bert cuts her off.
"You can be,"
"Enough!" Mr. White stands and points at Bert. "You are done talking right now."
Bert leans back in his chair and looks from the other woman to Mr. White. "Whatever." He says and he picks up a folder.
"Now, what were you going to choose as your name?" Mr. White asks the other woman his face trying to be kind.
"Um." Her face scrunches a few times then relaxes. "I'll be Tess."
"Simple, very nice choice. How about you?" Mr. White looks to the thin woman next.
"Gail." She says quickly.
"Alright. Now someome will have to be here at all times incase another needs to call in information. To start off with we will all be here until we get an exact location of an Enhanced, understand?" Everyone nods and takes their folders to a smaller work table adjoining the wall that each passed through. There was no more sound in the room other then the dull clicking of keyboards and quiet the shuffle of paper.
