Bert sits wih the appearance of calm in a small platic chair next to a door and a plant. The building located in a quiet area of D.C. is an ordinary looking business type inside and out. It houses law offices and small business owners but little more. Every few seconds Bert's right hand reaches up to brush away an invisble speck from his left shoulder. He had been called here as soon as news of the high school fiasco reached important ears only to stew in this same bland hall for several hours. Something so public had never happened under his watch before. Was he being fired? But how does one get fired from a sector the president doesn't even know about? To distract himself from furthering his thoughts he pulls out his notepad to review his notes.
Evidence of Enhanced activity Location: Brock, Texas. Suspect: Willow Hertson.
Below that he writes:
Suspect 2: Shiloe Mack.
The door to Bert's left opens as he finishes writing.
"Agent Bert." A deep femanine voice says. He stands folding up his note pad and replaces it in his pocket. In the doorway stands a short red haired woman. "Follow me." She says then she spins on her heel and starts down the dimly lit hall. Once inside the door closes and seals. Bert allows himself a moment of hesitation then accepts whatever fate may come and follows after the short woman.
Bert's feet had begun to ache perhaps an hour ago, now they were numb. "How much farther?" Bert says annoying himself with the pleading in his tone.
"Not much farther." The woman replies with the same monotone she used with any of his other questions.
Sighing, Bert pushes himself on.
When they finally reach a door Bert nearly sways on his feet.
"Easy Agent. You wouldn'twant to faint." The small fleck of sarcasm is the first sign if humanity in his guide since he followed her into the tunnel. The woman places her hand against the door. Bert waits for a pin pad of some sort to appear out of the strange stone that makes up the surface ofthe door, but nothing happens. Then when it eases open with no visible effort on the woman's part a sense of unease fills him.
"In you go." The woman says once the doors are open. A pitch black room lies on the otherside.
"Who's in there?" In all his years with the department, he had never personally met with the higher up, nor known anyone who had.
"Even I don't know that Agent Bert. All I know is, his identity is very sensitive." She gestures once more for him to enter the room then crosses her arms. He would get no more information from her. With a deep breath to steel his nerves Bert crosses the threshold. The second both his feet are on the other side the door slams behind him with surprising speed. The final thump the last sound he hears as he is surrounded by dark silence.
