"Help me!" I scream as the white noise around me fluctuates through intolerable levels. "Someone help!" My whole being quivers with terror as light zips past and through me in blinding streaks. "Help!" I try to move my arms but what comes up before my face are two sets of twining streaks if pink and blue light. I scream and try to hide my face, but I don't have a face to hide. "Help me please! Somebody!" A streak of pale pink light comes straight for my face and I bring my "arm" up to block it and a jolt goes through my body and instead of seeing streaks of light a single flourescent light hangs over my head. I just stare at the light till my eyes feel dry then I blink and realize that there is a ceiling behind the light. I turn my head to look around and can feel the weight of my body pressing into the floor. I'm lying down. Slowly bringing my hand up I burst into tears as I flex my fleshy fingers before my eyes. "I'm back." I sit up and wipe my face as even more tears rush to blurr my vision. Once I finally stem the river I stand up and discover I am no longer at the bar. My back thuds against a wall as I scoot back in horror. "Where am I?"
Just a few short feet away sits a large black table surrounded by plush rust red chairs. On the otherside of the table is a large window out of which I can see Mt. Hood. In a burst of movement I scurry around the table to the window. Far below sprawls the city of Portland with it's many dark alleys and dingy buildings now illuminated by the few rays of sun able to get through the clouds. I touch the cold glass and relish the sensation of touch. What has just happened? I shake my head and let out a small laugh. "I always did wanna get out of that bar."
The sound of footsteps reaches me from just outside the room. I duck down behind the table, peeking underneath to locate the door. There, right near where I had popped into existance. In that moment it opens and I hold my breath as two sets of sleek men's dress shoes walk into the room.
"Joe, I swear I heard a scream." A man's voice says.
Finding a wide enough gap between the chairs I crawl underneath the large table.
"This floor is on lock down, not even the tower's security has access."
"I know what I heard Joe. It was a scream."
I hold my breath and watch as one of the shoes circles the table.
"Whatever just hurry and finish with your little investigation so we can get on with our real jobs."
"Okay, okay."
Suddenly my ankle is gripped and I am pulled from under the table. "Let me go!!" I scream swinging my arms wildly.
"Told you." The man holding me by my ankle grins down at me. "I knew I heard a scream."
