The Mystery

Beginning

I am gonna write something I am actually good at that is horror or mystery, I always write horror stories in my exams....
I hope you like it and the cover...
This story will take place in an alternate universe where there will be no Pokemon. The families of the characters may vary.

(3rd person POV)
"Congratulations sir, you successfully solved another case", said a voice.
"It wasn't that difficult"
"Will you be going to the archives now?", Asked the first voice.
"Yes, if I want to be a good detective, I should read about the previous cases and how they were solved by different detectives."
"Good luck,sir"

The detective went to the room of the archives.
"Good to see you Ash. I heard you solved the case.", greeted a voice.
"It wasn't difficult. With the help of my team I could certainly solve it. Do you have any interesting cases Drew?"
"Hmm....I do have one that would interest you", replied Drew as he rummaged the drawers.
After a while, Drew handed him a file. It was dusty and old, and somewhat thin.
"Do you really think this is gonna interest me?", Ash raised an eyebrow.
"This three year old file may seem uninteresting , even to the officers who were incharge of the case. But trust me, it has more to it. Read it thoroughly and call me after you've read it."
"Well...I'll certainly do so. Have a good day Drew."
"Bye Ash"

Ash left the agency and drove home. What Drew had said made him curious. He thought about the file on his way home.

(Ash's POV)
As soon as I opened the lock, I collapsed on my chair and removed the file from my bag. I placed it in front of me on my desk.
I gently dusted the file and read the cover.

Why does this name sound familiar? I flipped it open and started reading it.

She must be 23 now, about my age. She looks pretty but why does she look so familiar?
I turn the page over only to find it blank. Nothing. Absolutely nothing. This is the only evidence available. Why would Drew give this to me?I grabbed the telephone and dialled his number.
Well, Drew and I were classmates during our training. He is a good detective as well however, he is taking a break. He loves spending his time in the archives just like me. There must be a reason why he gave this to me. But what?
"Hello Ash, I figured out you'd call me soon.", said Drew from the other end.
"Why did you give me this incomplete file?", I asked.
"The reason is simple. It's for you to complete it."
"You want me to solve this case?!"
"Don't you want to find Misty?"
"You act as if you know her."
"I may or may not."
"But how do I solve this without any leads or witnesses?"
"Calm down Ash. Get ready, I'll pick you up in five"
"I hope you have a good explanation."
"I certainly have. See you later", he ended the call.
Ughhh that Drew. But does he know her? I stared out of the window not realising that it had been raining all this while. I see Drew's car pull up in front of my house. I cast one more look at the file before stuffing it in my bag and shutting the door behind me.

I hopped into the passenger's seat next to Drew and he started driving.
"Where are we going?", I questioned.
"Cilan's place"
"Your cousin's place!! But why?"
I remembered Cilan very well. He was also a fellow classmate. He was pretty good but he doesn't believe in working with the police. It's been ages since I met him. I've heard that he has successfully solved a few cases.
"Patience Ash", he replied.
"But why do you want me to solve it?"
"You wanted something to interest you. Besides, do you really not want to solve it?"
"I guess. But it's three years old. Do you think she'll be alive?"
"Well....it's up to you to figure it"
"Fine....I'll see what I can do. But why Cilan? Don't you think I should have gone to agency for clues?"
"The only clues you would have gotten there are already in that file."
"So you think that Cilan would've more clues?"
"Positive", he replied.
"Well, that's some trust."
"He's my cousin afterall"
