(Ash's POV)

"You really knew her?", I asked hopefully.
"Yes", she replied. Her voice no longer had the joy in talking to an old friend but it had become quite sorrowful.
"How?"
"Me, Misty and Dawn met at a summer camp when we were probably fourteen. We became close friends in a short amount of time. But those two months were probably the best of my life. We enjoyed living amongst the forest. I still remember the way Misty jumped up and down when she spotted a bug. 'Hate those creepy crawlies', she used to say. We did several tasks together and one my favorites was being detective. We had to form groups of three. One was the detective while another was the culprit. The rest were innocent civilians. I always managed to be the detective while Misty ended up being the culprit. But I could never figure it out. She was too good with hiding clues. I always ended up arresting Dawn.", a chuckle escaped her lips.
"Did you ever meet her after the camp?"
"Two years after the camp I met her. I hadn't realized that she had moved into my neighborhood. She was living with her aunt I think. I bumped into her on the way and greeted her. I was so excited to see her after a long time. However.......she didn't remember me.", the last few words barely came out as a whisper.
"I know I won't be able to understand what you felt li-", he tried to make her feel better but was cut off by her.
"You don't know what happened next!",she partially yelled. "I met her a few days before her accident. She had recently shifted and we crossed paths again. This time she could recognize me, I was elated. She told me that her memories were erased. I was curious but she didn't tell me anything else so I dropped the subject. She asked me for a favour. She told me about how she was being attacked and had some suspicions. She had finally found her sister's grave and wanted to pay a visit. I was asked to be a little farther than the cemetery and keep watching the surroundings. I noticed a truck parked not far from the cemetery and I knew that Misty would have noticed it too but she didn't stop. When she returned from the cemetery, the truck finally moved. It had collided with her car which caused it to deviate from the road and it fell in the lake. The truck just left. It hadn't collided with the driver's seat so I thought she might have survived. I got out of my car and rushed towards the bank looking for her. All I could see was air bubbles which eventually stopped. I waited for hours but she never came out. The lake remained perfectly still. It was unusually motionless as if it were a painting. It started raining and I had to return. I-I could not save h-her.", her voice cracking.
"Please don't blame yourself. You couldn't have done anything. Thank you for the information, May", I tried consoling her and soon ended the call.
Cilan had heard every bit of it. We were revealed to the truth but we couldn't find any clue.
"But why hadn't May told this to Gary or Leaf?", I asked.
"She must have had a hard time. Imagine meeting an old friend only to see them die before your eyes. Horrible."
Our thoughts were interrupted by a phone call. I checked the caller ID. 'Drew', it said. I picked it up and put it on speaker.
"Ash!! You need to come to the headquarters right now!! I want no excuses and get Cilan too. You better come soon!", he yelled, not giving me the chance to speak, and ended the call.
Me and Cilan looked at each other with a confused and worried expression plastered across our faces. Without another word we advanced towards the headquarters wondering what was in store.
