Why is it that people feel this eternal urge to tell stories? To grab a pen and write down everything they can think of? To create a story and a universe which will let them escape from reality?
I've never understood that, never got a hold of it, a reason to justify why I, too, feel this way. But I can't help it. My job is to look around and seek for people, seek for their own special stories. And those stories, I write them down as if they were my own stories, part of my own life.
That's what a storyteller does. And I am a storyteller.
It's just incredible. Behind every single tale I tell, there is a whole book too. Most people simply wouldn't notice.
We perceive what we believe we have to see. This is why a legend is only seen as a legend and a poem as a poem. We never get to think that, maybe, there was another story behind that tale and that legend and that poem. What people write is not something born just from imagination or from a draft written from the first idea you come up with.
It's the result of who we are, who we became as the years were passing by and will continue to pass by.
It's a combination of our experiences: starting with those we think of as the least important ones and those we could never forget, put aside, our hardest decisions, our hardest times, when we proved ourselves to be worthy to go on and keep living.
It's a mixture of what makes us bodies with souls and therefore, it's a mixture of joy and success, of sorrow and failure, of courage and fear, of love and hatred.
It's imagination falling in love with reality - or ending up hating it. Either way, both of them will develop feelings for each other.
And living in separate universes is how imagination and reality overcome their differences, the obstacles along the way, and become one, because - love or hatred, it doesn't matter - they understand how necessary they are to each other.
You can call me Tinandel. I belong to a Race which, ironically, doesn't belong to stories, which was forgotten by time and had to strive to survive. I'm a Kazjéh.
But this is not my story.
I'm here to talk about humans. How they managed to do good and became similar to angels and do evil and chose to dance with the demons.
This is the story of three Races. The most important Races of all time.
The one that kept watching over and fighting for people, that of the Angels.
The one that kept growing and growing and growing again and never surrendered to time, nor to space, and not even to nature herself, that of the Humans.
The one that would lose everything for power and to put their desires and needs first, that of the Demons.
And, remember, there are things that are not easily told, of which no one speaks about or every living soul has forgotten the existence of. We dig their grave into the ground, so that we won't be the ones who have to bear the burdens of remembering them.
But one day someone is going to come and - either by accident or on purpose, they'll ruin your lifetime's work. They'll find out what you buried in the past. And when that happens, there will be no time for lies and games. Because that will be the time of the truth.
I personally witnessed most of the tales I'm going to make legends here. When you close this book, I beg you, do not forget. For there will be a time when Angels will sing their songs for you and Demons will crave to tempt you.
For you will have the knowledge to know whose side you belong to, whose side you will pick.
And don't accept that Angels disappear into thin air and Demons get romanticized as beautiful creatures because that, as said above, is just a part of the truth.
Seek the truth, little Human. Seek it and find it, no matter the cost. What is the whole story behind a tale?
