Sasuke woke up to see rays of sunshine shine above him. The usually gloomy room had beautiful lighting to it. Naruto always seemed to bring the sunshine along with him wherever he went. The boy turned his head to face the said blonde when he realised he was already awake. Naruto was facing the other way; his body language telling the raven that he wasn't in a very good mood.
"N-Naruto...?" He placed his hand on the boy's shoulder to see how he'd react. The Uzumaki jumped a little, startled, but turned around anyway. Knowing that Sasuke was awake, Naruto snuggled himself into his chest, "... what's wrong?" The raven asked while resting his chin on the blonde head of hair.
"Nothing really..." he responded.
The raven scowled him by tugging on blonde locks, "There's clearly something wrong! I don't want you to be unhappy, okay?"
Naruto pulled away massaging his scalp, "I told you already, it's nothing!"
The two got out of bed and Naruto was beginning to act like nothing happened, "What's for breakfast?" He asked as he dawdled around the kitchen.
"Last night's leftovers." Sasuke stated, rummaging through the fridge.
"That's good 'cause I need all the nutrition and protein I can get for today's mission!" He grinned as he flexed his arm muscles. There wasn't much to show, since he was a boy only beginning to go through puberty, but he was definitely developing.
Sasuke smiled a little as he saw how the blonde suddenly cheered up, until he realised something. Naruto was grinning. It wasn't the same genuine smile he witnessed on the night they confessed. After he heated up their breakfast, he set the steaming bowls of curry on the table and stared at the boy in front of him, "Really, what is wrong, Naruto?"
"... this again? Look, I'm fine, really. See?" He gave him a small grin.
Sasuke placed down his chopsticks and spoke, "Y'know... I used to fall for that too," he clasped his hands together, leaning on his elbows and observed the Uzumaki to see if he was listening, "but I've seen your genuine smile before so I know that difference. You always grin like that to hide your sadness. I hadn't realised it up until now."
Naruto gulped but remained silent.
"So what's wrong?"
"Well, um..." he fiddled with his fingers, "I've just been... feeling uneasy, that's all."
"... don't you feel safe here?"
"N-no! That's not it! Of course I feel safe here, it's just when I'm not with you..." It was very rare to see Naruto this nervous.
"The villagers, right?" It was like Sasuke could read his mind.
"Yeah...." he confessed, clutching the oversized blue shirt Sasuke gave him.
"Come on, you're a ninja! We are being trained for self defence and so we can fight, and they're just ordinary villagers. I'm not always going to be there to save you, and besides, you hate it when I save your ass anyway." The raven explained as he stuffed a piece of chicken into his mouth.
"Heh. I guess you're right. Though, I tend to rely on you a lot now. You always save me, Sasuke." The blonde said bitterly.
"Yeah, maybe this week and during our first ever mission, but you've saved me a lot too. In more than one way..." he mumbled the last part and looked away, pale cheeks tinged pink.
"Awww, are you my damsel in distress, Sasu-chan~?" Naruto joked.
"Shut up! Just hurry up and eat your breakfast!" He then turned to face a clock hanging on the kitchen wall, "we have to leave in half an hour so get dressed quickly."
"Hai!" The Kyuubi container scoffed down his curry and rushed to the bathroom with his one of his freshly washed jumpsuits and got dressed, while Sasuke had a shower in his bedroom's bathroom.
Naruto wore all his weapons; kunai, shuriken, paper bombs. He was ready for his mission when he tied his blue Konoha headband around his forehead. He stared at his reflection in the mirror and smiled to himself. If he was going to become Hokage, he could easily defeat a few lousy villagers. As he walked down the hallway to put on his shoes, he went past all the abandoned rooms with closed doors, but one was wide open. That one being Sasuke's bedroom, revealing a naked raven in one of those incredibly short towels.
Naruto couldn't help but stare. Sasuke had a nice build for his age; it was surprisingly feminine yet masculine at the same time, and his skin was so beautiful. His skin was so pale with beauty that it looked extraordinarily soft. He couldn't help but want to touch it-
"And you call me a pervert."
Interrupted by his gross thoughts, Naruto screeched, "Baka! That's different! You left the door wide open on purpose! Obviously I was gonna see you if you were right there when I was walking past your room!"
"Hn! Whatever just leave me alone so I can get dressed."
"Fine! You're the one who's a pervert!" He stuck his tongue out and stormed further down the hallway. The blonde sat down outside on the dark wooden deck to put on his blue ninja sandals as he waited for Sasuke. He buried his face into his palms and muttered to himself, "It's that Ero-Sennin's fault..."
When they were both ready to go, the two boys made their way over to their usual meeting place, the bridge. After half an hour of waiting, as usual, Kakashi hadn't shown up. Surprisingly, Sakura hadn't come either.
"D'you think she won't be at today's mission 'cause of yesterday?" Naruto asked worryingly.
"I'm not sure but I don't think this mission will be happening." Sasuke replied, hands in his pockets.
"We should've gone after Sakura-chan yesterday. It's not fair on her. Now I feel bad..." he stated in a concerned tone.
"Stop worrying about Sakura. She wouldn't of wanted to see us in that moment of time; that's one of the reasons why she hasn't shown up today, right? And besides, somebody else probably would've comforted her."
The blonde shrugged, "I guess so."
And so, they waited for the rest of Team Seven to arrive.

Ahhh!
I'm so sorry I didn't update last week! I've been busy with life, ya know? For example, I had been busy making an entire poster about ramen. Don't ask; we had to create a poster in Japanese class for why we chose Japanese as how language for fun; and we weren't allowed to do anime or manga!! So I did ramen cuz I love food. I love Japanese food. I love ramen. There are a few things I learnt when making that:
1. The average length of a ramen noodle is approximately 40cm long (I can't convert it into inches for those of you who use different measuring systems from me, sorry)
2. There is a ramen museum in Japan! It is an amusement park with ramen based attractions and stores! (I wanna go there if I ever go to Japan)
I also had maths and social studies homework but that's not really important, is it?
Anyway, back to the updating the book thingie...
Screw the weekends. It's too hard for my crazy non-existent schedule. Also, I seem to be really good at procrastinating. It's not like I don't enjoy writing, it's just that I can get writer's block a lot and prefer doing other things in my free time sometimes. So expect to get an update some point in a week, not the weekend. Since I didn't update last week, this chapter is to make up for last week, and I should be releasing another for this week! And if I don't...
I'm sorry. (Plz don't hurt meh) 😓
