Happy reading.....

Mahir had ordered some light food-khichdi with a side of cucumber raita, a comforting meal perfect for late-night dining. As Bela emerged from the bathroom, the fragrant aroma filled the air. She saw Mahir serving the food onto plates at the dining table.

Her eyes widened in surprise. "Wow, that was fast! How did you manage to get it delivered so quickly?"

Mahir smiled, setting the last plate down. "This is Mumbai, Bela. There's always someone willing to deliver food, even after midnight."

Just as he lifted his head to respond, his eyes caught sight of her. Bela was drying her long, black hair with a towel, wearing a simple yet striking outfit, a white t-shirt and blue leggings that hugged her hourglass figure. Her big, black eyes sparkled with curiosity, and her sharp jawline accentuated her beautiful nose. She had a mole on her collarbone, the perfect accent to her slender neck. The casual outfit and her natural beauty were captivating.

Mahir's heart skipped a beat as he admired her. She looked effortlessly stunning, and he found himself momentarily lost in her presence. Bela noticed his gaze and waved her hand in front of his face, breaking his thoughts.

"Hey, where were you lost?" she asked, a teasing smile playing on her lips as she eyed her plate.

Mahir's ears turned pink, and he quickly tried to cover his embarrassment. "Oh, uh, I was just thinking about an urgent email I need to send to my boss," he said, hoping his excuse sounded plausible.

Bela nodded, accepting his explanation. "Okay, well, let's eat. This looks delicious."

They sat down at the table, and Bela took her first bite, savoring the comforting taste of the khichdi. "This is really good. Just what I needed after such a long day."

Mahir watched her with a soft smile. "I'm glad you like it. It's one of my go-to comfort foods."

As they ate, the conversation flowed easily. Bela shared more about her job hunt and her aspirations in Mumbai, while Mahir listened attentively, offering advice and encouragement. He found himself more and more drawn to her vibrant personality and resilience.

After they finished eating, Mahir cleared the plates, insisting Bela relax. She watched him with gratitude, feeling more at ease than she had in days.

"You know," Bela said softly, "I was really scared earlier. But being here, with you, I feel safe."

Mahir looked at her, his expression serious. "I'm glad you're here, Bela. And I promise, I'll help you navigate this city. You're not alone."

Bela smiled, her eyes reflecting a mixture of gratitude and hope. "Thank you, Mahir. That means a lot."

As the night grew deeper, they continued to talk, sharing stories and dreams, the bond between them growing stronger. Mumbai, with all its chaos and unpredictability, had brought them together, and both felt that perhaps this was just the beginning of something special.

Bela stifled a yawn, her eyes beginning to droop. "I have an interview early tomorrow morning, so I think I should head to bed."

Mahir nodded, understanding the importance of her rest. "Of course. I've put a water bottle in your room in case you need it during the night."

Bela smiled gratefully. "Thank you, Mahir. What about you? Aren't you going to bed?"

Mahir shook his head lightly. "I need to send an urgent email to my boss. Once that's done, I'll head to bed too. Don't worry about me."

Bela gave him a tired but appreciative look. "Alright. Goodnight, Mahir. And thanks again for everything."

"Goodnight, Bela. Sleep well, and good luck with your interview tomorrow."

Bela made her way to the guest room, her steps slow with exhaustion. The room was cozy, with soft lighting and a comfortable bed that looked incredibly inviting. She found the water bottle on the bedside table and set her alarm before slipping under the covers.

Mahir, meanwhile, settled in front of his laptop in the living room. He focused on his work, typing away diligently. The email required more attention than he anticipated, and an hour slipped by before he finally hit send. As he began to shut down his laptop, a piercing scream shattered the silence of the house.

His heart raced as he recognized Bela's voice. He bolted towards her room, adrenaline pumping through his veins. Bursting through the door, he saw Bela thrashing on the bed, clutching the bedsheet tightly, her face contorted in fear and tears streaming down her cheeks.

The sight broke Mahir's heart. He quickly moved to her side, kneeling down and taking her hand in his. "Bela, it's okay. You're safe. It's just a nightmare," he said gently, trying to soothe her.

Her eyes flew open, and she began to cry loudly, still caught in the throes of her nightmare. Mahir felt a pang of helplessness but knew he had to act. He got up and, without hesitation, wrapped his arms around her, pulling her into a protective embrace.

"Bela, it's alright. I'm here. You're safe," he whispered, his voice steady and calming.

Bela's sobs gradually subsided as she felt the warmth and security of Mahir's embrace. She clung to him, her body trembling. Mahir held her tightly, his hand gently stroking her back.

"You're safe now, Bela. I've got you. It was just a bad dream," he continued to murmur soothingly.

Slowly, her breathing steadied, and she began to calm down. She pulled back slightly to look at him, her eyes red and puffy from crying. "Mahir, I... I'm sorry. I didn't mean to wake you."

Mahir shook his head, his expression soft and concerned. "You don't have to apologize. I'm glad I was here. Do you want to talk about it?"

Bela shook her head, still sniffling. "No, it's just... everything that's happened today. I guess it just got to me."

Mahir nodded understandingly. "I can only imagine how overwhelming it must have been. But you're not alone, Bela. I'm here for you."

Bela managed a small, grateful smile. "Thank you, Mahir. I feel better now."

"Good," Mahir replied, brushing a stray lock of hair from her face. "Try to get some rest. I'll stay here until you fall asleep, if that's alright with you."

Bela nodded, feeling a sense of comfort she hadn't expected. "I'd like that."

Mahir stayed by her side, his presence a reassuring anchor. Slowly, Bela's eyes grew heavy again, and she drifted back to sleep, this time without the haunting nightmares. Mahir watched over her, ensuring she was truly at peace before finally retreating to his own room, relieved that she was alright.
