Chapter 29

"What! You didn't ask him? But I assume you guys figure things out already. Looking at your creepy smile there." Ava trailed looking sideways at her cheeky friend as they queued along the line.

"We didn't talk about it but I just assumed after the intense kiss, I think it says something and we're still getting to know more about each other." Audrey replied taking another step forward as the crowd diminished.

"Well then maybe she's just a random girl who means nothing to him. One large double cheeseburger meal, one medium coleslaw and a medium waffle fries, please. Thanks." She ordered her food. They walked towards the empty table in the middle of the restaurant.

"I guess. He's taking me to an event this week, it's his father's old partner and I have nothing to wear. How many events do these people go to. I've worn the only two gowns that I had in my entire life." She said taking a spoonful of coleslaw. They finished the lunch and continued walking around the mall looking for a suitable gown she might wear for the event.

Zach brought two whiskey glasses on his hands and placed them on the table. He poured the 30 years old rare Macallan into each glasses, taking both glasses and passed one to Ethan who was sitting on the couch, while Zach sat on the single couch.

"Cheers to success and happiness." Zach raised his glass and drank the scotch neat and Ethan following the same.

"So, you're still seeing that brunette chef?" Zach asked swirling the scotch tilting the glasses.

"Yeah, why?"

"You really like her, huh? I've never seen you like this, cousin." He said.

"Like what?"

"You do realise that you're less of an asshole and you comment on how the food taste which is really weird, right? Not that I'm complaining. You really seemed more... content." He explained noticing that his cousin seemed to be more tolerance and likeable recently compared to his naturally an asshole behaviour. Ethan thought on his words and realized that he did not noticed the change a person can impact and suddenly confronts himself whether he was doing the right thing to trust a woman, the vicious, cunning, heartless women. He had lost a great deal because of one woman in his life that truly matter. He promised himself not to ever let any woman into his life, was he breaking his own promises?

"No such thing, cousin. She's just a woman, just a toy. I just happen to like her more than the others. That's all." He lied unable to explain what he felt and emptied the glass, pouring himself another drink.

"She brings out the best in you, brother. That's... something. I'm telling you, you might not find another one like her." Ethan agreed that she was special, she was different from the other woman, but he was not willing to make a fool of himself for anyone, including her. Right?

"Does she happen to have a sister?" He anticipated distracting his cousin's thought and was thrown a pillow at his face.

"Damn you almost spill my drink, cousin! Anyway, how's the case in Paris going on? Is it settled? I don't get why Cale really hate you so much."

"Don't ask me. I've been asking the same question. Regarding the Loyd Paris, I've called Lance as soon as I heard the issue. They'll deal with their department by the end of this month." He explained taking out his phone smiling and typed something.
