Chapter 32
Ethan woke up with his head pounding, body aching and his hands wrapped. He turned to his side noticing that a woman was asleep beside him, fully clothes, that's a first, he thought. He looked at her and saw her angelic face sleeping with her hands on his chest and her right leg on his. Trying hard to recall what happened last night, he tracrd back when he was in his office, drinking his pain away. Trying to forget how his mother left him alone. He knew Clarence would carried him back to his room but how did Audrey fall asleep beside him. She stirred to his slight movement. Sleepily peeked her eyes open slowly and took a glimpse of his face in front of her.
"Morning. OH MY GOD!! Shoot! What am I doing here! Oh yeah... SHOOT!" She panicked scrambling out of the bed to get her phone.
"God woman! Stop yelling, it's hurting my head..." He looked at her while holding his pounding head but she glared back at him before starting to talk on the phone.
"Ava! Oh my gosh... I am so sorry! Yes, I know. Thank god! I overslept at Ethan's. I know. Now, stop that! Stop it. Alright, I'll see you later tonight. Okay bye, A!" She spoke switching her phone off while walking towards Ethan who was still lying on the bed.
"Sorry, I forgot that Ava was waiting for me cause she left her keys at the house and I totally forgotten, but she stayed over at someone's. So, how are you feeling?" She asked making her way towards him.
"I'm fine. How did you get here?" He asked.
"Oh yeah, I came here last night dropping off some food for you, Clarence let me in. Then I heard smashed glass and found you drunk and your hands... Are you alright?" She asked softly.
"Yeah, I'm fine."
"Alright, do you mind if I take a shower here? And take some aspirin." She dropped the subject knowing that he might not be ready to explain the traumatic events that happened to him. She took a warm shower in the guest room wearing the same clothes again and walked out to the kitchen. She told Clarence that he's awake and would like to make breakfast for him. Placing the food on the table and called Ethan who was showering. She sat on the chair browsing her phone when he walked out of his room, fresh and ready in his suit.
"Drink this. It helps with the hangover." She handed him a glass of red juice. He gave a questioning look and drank the juice.
"Ugh disgusting!" He gave a disgusted face but finished the drink placing the empty glass on the table.
"There, there. Wasn't that bad. Now eat your breakfast. I made it myself, you should feel honoured having a private chef cooking for you this meal. No offence, Clarence!" She pointed to the plate of pancake and a bowl of chicken noodle soup.
"Thanks." He replied feeling overwhelmed by the warmth he never experienced before. She stayed until he finished breakfast and excused herself to go back home before she made sure that he was better and warned Clarence to call her if anything happened. Ethan stepped inside his car to the office and thought about the caring brunette who took care of him although he never asked for her. Was she truly different and sincere? He was torn between his unfortunate past events and his possible future. He decided to go ahead with time.
