Chapter 4

2 years later

"We have a total of 1200 guests attending today. Chefs be ready at each of your stations, start prepping by 4 PM sharp. Waitresses should be arriving in an hour. The wines and champagnes have arrives, Carrie, please double check the amount, so we can keep track on the opened bottles for today. Chefs, please make sure the halibut is perfectly cooked. We want to maintain our excellence. Any question? Great! Thank you all. Let's start moving!" Audrey briefed excitedly to her staffs regarding the event for tonight while she hopped off the short ladder.

"Yes chef." Replied the staffs and dispersed to their specific stations.

"Chef, bad news. We will be short staffed today because 2 of our waiters are unable to show up. They just cancelled last minute earlier this morning." Carrie approached Audrey.

"Who are they?" she asked.

"The usual, Patrick and Simone, chef."

"Gosh, what is wrong with them, this is the second time that they cancelled at the last minute. Remind me to not pair both of them on the same day again and this will be the final warning or they're out. For now, we will just have to do with what we have." She stated while walking to the wine boxes with Carrie walking along her side.

"Yes chef, especially when they just started working only two months ago. Should I start scouting for new waiters, just in case?"

"It's fine, we'll give them one last chance. Ask them to come see me on Monday, I'll talk to them respectively. Do you have the purchase order list for the wines? Please double check for me and make sure that they are the exact amount and types. Thank you Carrie." Audrey trusted Carrie since she was one of the few staff who continued working since the business started.

Initially, it was just Audrey who cooked and served through the small gathering and small events. Soon, the catering business expanded gradually and she hired more staffs to help out. Currently, the company was able to buy two vans for transporting the food and has made a down payment on the new office and kitchen at the Madison Avenue road. She was proud of the accomplishment that Bouquet Catering had accomplished in the span of two years. She started to cater to large events recently such as the business associates gathering, weddings and charity events. This was one of the business gathering events for Russell and Jenkins corporations. Audrey was glad to get the opportunity to cater for this event and she owe it to her dear friend Ava for introducing her to the event planner of this evening.

All the waiters had arrived and were getting ready with the table plating's. All the chef were at their position preparing the dishes for the evening. Time has passed and guests were starting to arrive in their elegant and expensive gowns and tuxedos. All the prominent business owners and socialites attended the event to show their support on the alliances of the two empire.

"The first batch of entrée should be ready for serving. Waiters ready for service!" Carrie instructed the waiters' attention and hoped that they are able to keep up the pace regardless the lack of two staffs. The waiters brought the plates out to the ballroom and placed them on the tables, while some of the waiters poured glasses of wine to the parched guests.

"We are opening the second box of wine now!" Called one of the waiter informing on the amount of wine bottles that have been opened while another waiter is noting down onto a list clipboard.

Time seemed to past swiftly since the kitchen was always a hectic situation on each event.

"Please start plating the desserts, make sure the presentation is as similar to the ones I've shown you yesterday. I'll be right back." Audrey stated then rushed to go to the bathroom. She was always been busy making sure all the food are seasoned and presented perfectly, making sure that there is no shortage of wine or napkins or any other things on each events as if it was her first. She dashed out to the bathroom which was near the ballroom because the ones from the kitchen was locked. She rushed back to the kitchen before bumping into someone really hard and almost fell to the floor.

"Watch where you're going, will you!" The other person snapped simultanrously picking up his phone that fell to the floor.

"I'm sorry, I was... Mr Loyd?" Trailed Audrey as she seemed surprise to bump into him like this.

"Next time pay attention and don't try to trip others on your way, Miss chef!" He glanced briefly and looked back to his phone while walking past her quickly towards the door.

"What- That- Ugh!" she exasperated and stomped back to the kitchen. The last time they met was the day she quit her job. She was feeling irritated that not only did he not remember her but he was the same annoying, provoking and rude person as he was.

Gosh, remind me again why I quit my job. Thank God! He didn't even apologized. His eyes were obviously too glued to his phone that makes him just as wrong to bump into me. That annoying prick!

Audrey asserted herself, trying to get Mr Loyd out of her mind.

The event was done for today and everyone was finishing to clear up the kitchen.

"Thank you all, see you guys on Monday." Audrey said thrn she made her way to the carpark. She started the engine of the van and drove back home.
